SHERIDAN — Big Horn girls and Tongue River boys golf teams each took third in Lusk Saturday.
After winning in Wright Friday, the Tongue River boys posted a 398 and finished in a three-way tie with Saratoga and Wright Saturday in their final regular season meet. Wyatt Main was third individually with his 86.
“It’s going to be a great conference golf meet at Kendrick this Thursday and Friday,” TR head coach Pete Kilbride said. Tongue River is the host school for this weekend’s 2A conference meet in Sheridan.
“The team scores have been close all season,” he added. “At this stage, I just want the kids to relax and have fun. The score will take care of itself.”
On Saturday, Wyatt Schumacher shot a 90, Casey Caywood had a 102 and Dylan Patterson carded a 120.
The Big Horn girls finished just out of the top spot with a 321. Lusk and Wright split first each shooting a 315.
Alex Eisele was sixth, shooting a 103. Big Horn was held up by Taylor Nance (107), Kaleigh Anderson (111), Jamie Kitterman (115) and Amelia Ponce (135).
“Both teams played pretty good this weekend,” BH head coach Mila Stender said. “It was nice to get two meets in back to back. We competed well and are very close to finishing in the top one or two places. As anyone who plays golf knows, it truly is a game of inches and this weekend proved this again.”
The Big Horn boys were right behind the three-way tie in fourth, shooting a 401 Saturday. Nick McAdoo shot the top score for the Rams, a 92 that was good enough for ninth. Their team total was rounded out by Brody Bard (94), Jack Roberts (102) and Kevin Coffmen (113).
