Generals run by Casper; Lady Generals fall short

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan College men kept rolling, holding their second-place spot in Region IX with a 77-61 win last night in Casper.

The Generals were up by one at the break but pulled away in the second half to earn the season sweep of the Thunderbirds (14-10, 7-4), who were a half-game behind Sheridan in standings entering the contest.

Jamir Andrews paced the Generals again with 18 points, Abednego Lufile had 15 points, Fred Dure had 12 and seven rebounds, and Tate Hilgenkamp added another 10 points.

Sheridan got 44 points off its bench while Casper had 10, and outshot Casper 53 percent (25/47) to 35 percent (22/62).

Sheridan (21-5, 9-3) will play Dawson (8-15, 1-9) at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday night.

The 2014 SC Hall of Fame Class will be inducted during halftime of the game.

Casper 59, Lady Generals 57
SHERIDAN — A missed last-second 3-pointer left Sheridan College at a 59-57 loss Wednesday night in Casper.

Casper’s Kendell Nunn hit a shot with six seconds left to put the home team up by two, and Sierra Toms missed the 3 out of the drawn up play.

“I was pleased with how we battle back to get in the game and had a chance to win at the end,” head coach Frank McCarthy said. “I thought we really played hard  just came up a little short.”

Sheridan College (17-6, 7-6) hosts North Sub-Region IX leader Dawson (17-4, 8-2) at 3 p.m. Saturday.
