SHERIDAN — It’s a much different group of players than the ones that played in the Bruce Hoffman Golden Dome last season, but that may not turn out to be much of a problem.
The Generals added another recruit last week to their good-on-paper class of 2013-14, when Joshua Adeyeye, a 6-foot, 6-inch 220-pound forward joined Sheridan College. Adeyeye will likely be the team’s final addition for this season, head coach Steve Smiley said.
Adeyeye moves from Washington Adventist University in Takoma Park, Md., where he averaged 15 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.
Smiley said they are pleased to add a player of Adeyeye’s caliber and maturity to the roster.
“Josh is a really well-rounded player, that can play both forward positions and even some guard if needed,” he said. “He’s a strong athlete that can stretch the floor with his shooting ability, and also create with the dribble.
“He should be a terrific addition to our team, and we’re expecting him to have a great sophomore campaign this year.”
Originally from Fayetville, N.C., Adeyeye prepped at Coppin Academy in Baltimore, averaging 32 points and 10 rebounds per game.
After his high school career, Adeyeye was injured in 2011-12, playing his freshman season last year at WAU. He’ll be a sophomore for SC this season.
The Generals will be led by just two players from last year’s roster that saw significant minutes in Frederic Dure and Iakeem Alston. Wyoming product Tate Hilgenkamp (Laramie) also saw time last season and Taylor Millay (Casper) fit into the roster later in the year, but the Generals in 2013-14 will likely rely heavily on a large class of multiple college transfers and incoming freshmen.
Sheridan College begins 2013 with a jamboree in Casper Oct. 11-12. They’re home for the first time against Medicine Hat College out of Canada on Oct. 18.
