SHERIDAN — A familiar face will be taking over some of the city’s biggest events.
Longtime Sheridan resident Zoila Perry will soon take over as the Downtown Sheridan Association’s events coordinator.
Perry’s new position was announced as the events coordinator Wednesday.
“I took the job because I really enjoy event planning,” Perry said. “I wanted to be a part of DSA to help them carry out their projects.”
The events coordinator for the DSA has a busy schedule, especially during the summer. Perry will now be responsible for planning activities such as the Third Thursday Street Festivals, Sheridan Farmers Market, the Goose Creek Cup and others.
Perry moved to Sheridan in 1999 and, quite frankly, there aren’t many organizations with which she hasn’t helped out. Most notably, Perry has been a member of the Sheridan and Wyoming Jaycees for more than a decade. She’s also been involved with the Miss Wyoming Scholarship Program and was part of the first CiViC Leadership project.
Perry speaks very highly of the CiViC Leadership project and the Sheridan Jaycees, which she said have made a huge impact on her career.
“I just want to try to make a positive change in downtown. I’ve always wanted to be a part and make a difference in the community, and I think the DSA is going to help me to enhance our community,” she said.
Perry is going to split her time between the DSA and her job as the office manager at Forward Sheridan.
“I think it’s going to be great because there are a lot of things with both of those jobs that go together,” Perry said.
The DSA board is delighted to have Zoila join our team,” DSA Executive Director Beth Holsinger said. “She has great enthusiasm for the Sheridan community and will be a real asset to our mission.”
