SHERIDAN — Details aren’t for everyone. They take focus, attention and patience.

At the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce, Teresa Detimore takes charge of details as the director of program development.

She’s lived in Sheridan for about seven years. Her husband got a job in Sheridan and they moved to the area from Laramie. They’ve fallen in love with the community in which they are now raising two kids.

Of work, Detimore credited her coworkers for helping make everything at the Chamber possible.

“As a small office, we all work together to bring high quality programs and events to the Sheridan area,” she said. “I coordinate the various programs we have and work to improve them every year.”

Those programs range from trainings to candidate forums and all take an incredible amount of planning.

“Teresa is perfect for her role in planning large community events,” Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce Director of Marketing and Communications Ryan Koltiska said. “Nothing is overlooked by her. We call her a control freak, but what better personality to have when planning large community events like the Christmas Stroll and the Brewfest and the other 30 events she plans throughout the year!

“I always feel relaxed during events because I know she has it handled,” Koltiska said.

One of those upcoming events is the Ignite Your Business conference set for Oct. 18 at Sheridan College. The event includes 16 breakout sessions and multiple speakers that will speak to issues facing local businesses.

Dixie Johnson, the Chamber CEO, echoed the traits that make Detimore so special.

“Teresa Detimore is always the first to step up to the plate and does whatever it takes to make Chamber programs and events a success,” Johnson said. “She has a keen ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, handles high-stress situations with ease and is definitely the go-to person in the office for co-workers and Chamber members alike. Teresa is a skilled leader who exhibits outstanding judgment and has a great sense of humor and exceptional customer service.”

In addition to planning events through the Chamber, Detimore has been willing to share her planning strategies and know-how with other organizations with community programs.

In addition to her work at the Chamber, which has far-reaching impact in the community, Detimore volunteers to help with the children’s ministry at First Baptist Church.

“It’s great fun volunteering time to help an organization — or ministry in this case — that has such a huge impact on kids’ lives,” Detimore said.
