SHERIDAN — Dayton Town Council appointed two new junior councilors at its meeting Monday.

Courtney Jolovich, a junior at Tongue River High School, joined the Junior Council with foreign exchange student Polina Medianina, who is from Russia. Medianina lives with the Jolovich family.

Medianina, also a junior, said she is looking forward to learning about small-town government on the Dayton Town Council. Her hometown in Russia is about three times larger than the state of Wyoming, Town Clerk Linda Lofgren said.

“She is a real go-getter,” Lofgren said.

Junior councilors can serve as long as they want but typically join for about a three-month term.

Lofgren also noted that Tongue River High School will hold a homecoming parade at 11 a.m. Friday on Main Street in Dayton to cheer on the Eagles as they face Wright for their homecoming game Friday night.
