SHERIDAN — The Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce announced this week that the Sheridan Trolley’s summer season is officially underway.
In a media release issued Wednesday, Chamber officials said use of the trolley will be expanded this year as the result of ongoing evaluations of community transportation needs.
In addition to customized year-round charter trips and service for local weddings, this year the trolley will be employed for special community events that draw large numbers of visitors and create a need for convenient transportation from parking areas.
As it has in the past, the trolley will provide complimentary shuttle service from remote parking to Sheridan-Wyo-Rodeo performances in July. Additionally, the service was recently used to drive concertgoers from off-site parking locations to the Joan Jett concert at the Trails End Concert Park.
Next week it will be used for as-needed transportation for those participating in the city’s Park2Park Run/Bike/Stroll along the pathway system.
As a result of increased Trolley use this summer, the Sheridan Trolley Committee will not be offering one-hour tours of Sheridan as it had during previous seasons. However, the organization is considering the addition of special thematic tours to take place over the summer months.
The committee has also reproduced a narration on Sheridan history into booklet form. That material is available at the Chamber office at 1517 E. Fifth St.
So far the Sheridan Trolley has more than 50 charter trips booked for the summer months.
