Okay, okay. I’ll get this part out of the way early.
Miss Wyoming — Rebecca Podio — is attractive; gorgeous, even. Poised and confident. My mother always told me never to ask a woman’s age. So I’ll say Ms. Podio is young.
That said, she’ll be representing her home state Sept. 15 in Atlantic City, N.J., as the Miss America Pageant returns to its ancestral home from many years in Las Vegas. It’ll be televised on ABC.
Ms. Podio — aka Becky — has a petroleum engineering degree from the University of Wyoming. Her degree includes an emphasis on finance and economics. She has her own company in her hometown — Newcastle — and employs 15. She’s a pianist and her cousin is Dana Perino, former press secretary for President George W. Bush.
“I’m more comfortable on horseback, than in heels,” she told me Friday morning at The Sheridan Press.
Carole Perkins, who has promoted the Miss America brand hereabouts in Sheridan for many years, cites how more than $68,000 in college scholarships have been raised in Sheridan County. Overall, Miss America has generated some $48 million in scholarships since Margaret Gorman was the first Miss America in 1921. Ms. Perkins has been a judge at nine state pageants.

A short guide to
the Middle East
Iran is backing (Syria’s) Assad. Gulf states are against Assad!
Assad is against Muslim Brotherhood. Muslim Brotherhood and (President) Obama are against (Egypt’s) Gen. Sisi.
But Gulf States are pro-Sisi! Which means they are against Muslim Brotherhood.
Iran is pro-Hamas, but Hamas is backing Muslim Brotherhood! Obama is backing Muslim Brotherhood, yet Hamas is against the U.S,.
Gulf States are pro-U.S. But Turkey is with Gulf states against Assad; yet Turkey is pro-Muslim Brotherhood against Gen. Sisi. And Gen. Sisi is being backed by the Gulf states.
Welcome to the Middle East and have a nice day.
