Ceramics show @ SAGE Community Arts

SHERIDAN — SAGE Community Arts will host a ceramics show, “Splendid table: An exhibition of dinnerware,” through Sept. 20.

Elaine Henry curated the show.

The public is welcome to stop by to see the show Tuesdays through Fridays from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Create collaboration, increase impact @ The Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce

SHERIDAN — Stifel will host a seminar titled, “Create collaboration, increase impact,” from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce.

Guest speaker via webinar will be Laura Malone, the vice president of corporate/complex giving at the American Endowment Foundation.

Topics to be covered include questions to uncover if donor-advised funds can create the right charitable pathway for clients, heirs and their advisors; examples of how parents and grandparents can facilitate giving opportunities; common myths when it comes to leveraging complex assets; and tax efficient planning strategies.

A complimentary lunch will be served at 11:45 a.m.

Dementia friendly training @ Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce

SHERIDAN — Dementia Friendly Wyoming will offer training for local businesses and their employees in August and September.

The training will evaluate businesses to find simple ways to create a safe and welcoming environment, provide resources to support staff and help employees recognize the signs of dementia, communicate effectively with individuals with dementia and locate resources for individuals and care partners affected by dementia.

Training times will be Aug. 15 from 8:30-9:30 a.m., Aug. 24 from 5-6 p.m., Sept. 13 from 8:30-9:30 a.m. and Sept. 14 from 5-6 p.m.

The trainings will take place at the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce, located at 171 N. Main St.

Big Horn Mountain Festival @ Buffalo
Jul 20 – Jul 22 all-day

BUFFALO — The dates for the 2018 Big Horn Mountain Festival have been set for July 20-22.

“Traditionally the Big Horn Mountain Festival has been on the second full weekend of July, but for the next several years that weekend conflicts with other local and regional events, including the WYO Rodeo in Sheridan,” said Paul Jarvis, one of the organizers of the event. “We have decided to move our festival one week later so local residents, merchants, vendors, motels and visitors can take advantage of all the events. We plan to have the Big Horn Mountain Festival on the third weekend in July for the foreseeable future.”

The Big Horn Mountain Festival will begin at the Johnson County Fairground in Buffalo the afternoon of July 20 and run until late in the afternoon July 22.

In addition to the band performances, the festival features workshops, demonstrations, instrument raffles, food, refreshment, and arts and crafts vendors.

Organizers of the Big Horn Mountain Festival are currently scheduling a lineup of bluegrass, old time, folk and progressive acoustic music for the 14th annual festival next July. Stay up to date on festival information at www.bighornmountainfestival.com.

The festival also offers the Big Horn Bluegrass Camp, a day camp for kids from 8-18, which will run the third week in July at the Johnson County Fairgrounds.

“We’re hoping everyone will mark their calendar now for July 20-22, 2018, and make plans to attend the 14th Big Horn Mountain Festival,” Jarvis said. “We are proud to again offer this opportunity for an enjoyable music festival which benefits our community.”
