Fundraiser to benefit new sports complex @ Eagles

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan Softball Association and the Doubleday Sports Complex committee will host a fundraiser Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Eagles at Fifth and Main streets.

Check-in for the poker tournament will begin at 9 a.m. and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the planned Doubleday Sports Complex on the north side of the city.

There is a $50 buy-in to participate, with unlimited buy-ins until noon.

Money raised will also be matched by grants and other donations.

The Eagles is located at 850 N. Main St.

Dad, daughter dance planned for Saturday to benefit local school @ Sheridan County Fairgrounds

SHERIDAN — A dad, daughter dance will take place Saturday from 6-9 p.m. at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds.

The cost is $50 per couple and $20 per additional daughter. Daughters 2 years old and younger get in for free.

Tickets will not be sold at the door, but are available in advance from Immanuel Lutheran Church or by calling 763-7320.

The proceeds from the event will benefit the Martin Luther Grammar School.

The Sheridan County Fairgrounds are located at 1753 Victoria St.

Pint Night to benefit Project Schoolhouse @ Black Tooth Brewing Company

SHERIDAN — A pint night at the Black Tooth Brewing Company will take place Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. 

During that time, $1 for each pint sold will be donated to Project Schoolhouse, which hopes to send several local community members to Nicaragua to help at a school. Project Schoolhouse is an international nonprofit that focuses on education, clean water and sanitation in rural Nicaraguan communities. It was founded by Tab Barker, a Sheridan native.

WYO Thai Food will also be on site Tuesday.

Luminous to host TGR’s “Tight Loose” @ Luminous Brewhouse

SHERIDAN — Teton Gravity Research will celebrate its 21st birthday with a showing of “Tight Loose” at Luminous Brewhouse on Wednesday beginning at 6 p.m.

With more than 21 years of traveling the globe and pushing the boundaries of what is possible, TGR has experienced the full spectrum of adventure. It has been a constant evolution of refining a lifestyle — keeping things as buttoned-up on the front end to seize the moment when they can. 

TGR’s latest film “Tight Loose” takes you from India to Alaska, as filmmakers discover unridden spine walls, massive airs and full throttle riding in some of the wildest and most spectacular places on earth. Witness the 21-year athlete roster as they come together for a reunion-style massive group shred of the Palisades at Squaw Valley. 

The cost to attend is $10 per person. The event will also include raffles and merchandise will be available. Proceeds will benefit the Antelope Butte Mountain Recreation Area.

Bighorn Mountain poker run to benefit Snomads @ Bear Lodge

SHERIDAN — The Big Horn Mountain Snomads Snowmobile Club will host the Big Horn Mountain Snomads Poker Run on Saturday.

Registration will take place before 10 a.m. Saturday at Bear Lodge or the Wood Chuck Warming Hut.

Participants should return poker hands to Bear Lodge by 3 p.m. 

A drawing for door prizes will take place at 4 p.m.

All are welcome to participate. 

The cost to participate is $5 per hand.

Bear Lodge is located at 5600 U.S. Highway 14A in the Bighorn Mountains.

 
Saturday banquet to benefit SC rodeo team @ Sheridan Holiday Inn

SHERIDAN — The seventh annual Sheridan College Rodeo Banquet will take place Saturday at the Sheridan Holiday Inn.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m.

The event will include silent and live auctions followed by live entertainment by The Munsick Boys.

The cost to attend is $50 per person and tickets must be purchased in advance. Proceeds will benefit the Sheridan College rodeo program and scholarships.

York Rite Bodies to host chili supper @ Kalif Shrine Temple

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan York Rite Bodies will host the fourth annual chili supper on Saturday beginning at 6 p.m. at the Kalif Shrine Temple.

The dinner will include different kinds of chili, cinnamon rolls and fellowship.

The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 12 and younger.

The event is a fundraiser for the Sheridan York Rite Bodies and the ladies of the Social Order of Beauceant.

The Kalif Shrine Temple is located at 145 W. Loucks St.

10th Fireman’s Ball set for Saturday @ Historic Sheridan Inn

SHERIDAN — The 10th annual Community Fireman’s Ball will take place Saturday, Feb. 11, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Historic Sheridan Inn.

The event will feature live music from Gary Small and the Coyote Bros. beginning at 7:30 p.m. The event will also include a no-host bar and light snacks.

Professional photography will also be available from FFF Photography. 

The cost to attend is $20 per person and may be purchased from a local firefighter or at the door.

The Historic Sheridan Inn is located at 856 Broadway St.

Performance to benefit Advocacy and Resource Center @ Thorne-Rider Campus Center, Sheridan College

SHERIDAN — Sheridan College staff and students will present “The Vagina Monologues” on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Thorne-Rider Campus Center.

Tickets to the event cost $5 for community members and $1 for students.

All of the money raised from the event will go to women’s charities, with 90 percent going directly to support the Sheridan Advocacy and Resource Center.

Last year, more than 5,800 Valentine’s Day benefits were held around the world raising funds and awareness toward ending violence against women. The events raised more than $5 million through performances of “The Vagina Monologues” and others as part of the V-Day 2016 College and Community Campaigns.

Dining for a Cause to benefit Habitat for Humanity @ Frackelton’s

SHERIDAN — The next round of Dining for a Cause will take place Monday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4-10 p.m. at Frackelton’s.

The event will benefit Habitat for Humanity of the Eastern Bighorns.

One hundred percent of sales will be donated to the nonprofit.

Special Olympics ‘Jackalope Jump’ set for Sat. @ Goose Valley Fire Department Station

SHERIDAN — The annual Special Olympics Jackalope Jump will take place Saturday at the Goose Valley Fire Department parking lot.

Registration for the event will begin at 11 a.m. with the jump starting at noon. The event will help raise funds for local Special Olympics programs.

Ducks Unlimited annual fundraising banquet set for Saturday @ Best Western Sheridan Center

SHERIDAN — The annual fundraiser for the Sheridan Ducks Unlimited will take place Saturday beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Best Western Sheridan Center.

The event will include a variety of activities including a silent auction, live auction, dinner, games and raffles.

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a 5K @ Kendrick Park.

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan Jaycees will help area residents celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with races Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. at Kendrick Park.

The Run ‘Til You’re Green event offers 10K, 5K and 1-mile options for runners of all ages. Chip timing will be provided along with door and costume prizes. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m.

The cost to participate is $25 for early registration or $30 the day of the races. Proceeds will benefit the Sheridan Jaycees.

 
Sheridan County 4-H Carnival set for Saturday @ Sheridan County Fairgrounds

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan County 4-H Carnival will take place Saturday from 3-7 p.m. at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds.

The event is open to everyone. The only cost is the price of games and food purchases.

Games will include a cake walk, dunk tank, rubber band target shooting and others.

The event is a fundraiser for the Sheridan County 4-H.

Pint Night to benefit Keystone Awards @ Black Tooth Brewing Company

SHERIDAN — The Black Tooth Brewing Company will host a community pint night to benefit the 2017 Keystone Awards.

The evening, set to begin at 5 p.m., will include music, raffles and beer.

The brewery will donate $1 of each pint sold to the Keystone Awards, which recognizes individuals who have dedicated their lives to service. 

This year’s awardees are Forrest (posthumously) and Jacomien Mars, Jim Wilson and Reta Onstott. The awards ceremony will be held April 20. The Black Tooth Brewing Company is located at 312 Broadway St.

Pizza for a Purpose to benefit Sheridan cat rescue @ Powder River Pizza and Pub

SHERIDAN — Powder River Pizza and Pub will host its next Pizza for a Purpose on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The restaurant will donate 110 percent of its proceeds from that day to the Second Chance Sheridan Cat Rescue.

In addition, attendees can sign up to win gift certificates donated by local businesses every hour starting at noon.

The cat rescue will also accept donations of cat toys.

SHERIDAN — The 28th annual Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation banquet will take place Saturday from 5-7 p.m. at the Sheridan Holiday Inn Convention Center.

The event will benefit elk, other wildlife, their habitat and the state’s hunting heritage.

The banquet will include food, raffles games and guns.

SHERIDAN — The third annual Bottoms Up Bash will take place Saturday at the Elks Lodge in Sheridan from 7 p.m. to midnight.

The fundraiser will help create more awareness of colon cancer. The event will include live music from the Midlife Chryslers of Billings, Montana. The cover charge is $10 per person. The event will also include dancing, a full cash bar, silent auction items, a photo booth and more.

We the People team organizing fundraiser @ Sheridan High School

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan High School We the People team will host a showcase dinner and fundraiser Monday at 6 p.m. at the school.

The SHS team has won four straight state championships. This month, the team will represent the state of Wyoming at the We the People national finals in Washington, D.C. In order to travel, students need to raise $62,212 in a short time; they only need another $4,000 to reach the goal.

The Monday event will include a meet-and-greet with students, a silent auction and a chili and cinnamon roll dinner. The dinner will cost $5 per person.

Silent auction items include a two-hour Craft Brothers performance, six 1-hour tennis lessons with Julia Fenn and a group cemetery tour with Tyson Emborg.

Tickets for the event are $75 per person or $35 for registered patrons of the Sheridan Senior Center.

The event will honor Reta Onstott, Jim Wilson and Forrest Mars Jr. (posthumously) and Jacomien Mars.

The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a reception and the award show will begin at 7:30 p.m.

The cash bar and raffles will benefit the Sheridan Senior Center.

Black Tooth to host pint night @ Black Tooth Brewing Company

SHERIDAN — The Black Tooth Brewing Company will host a community pint night Friday from 2-11 p.m. to benefit a local fishing organization.

For each pint of beer sold, $1 will be donated to the Little Bighorn Chapter of Trout Unlimited.

WYO Thai will also be on hand and will donate part of its proceeds to the organization.

Members of the TU chapter, local guides and staff from the Fly Shop of the Bighorns and the founder of Rods, Reels and Heels will be on hand.

Tickets for HNCS fundraiser now available @ Sheridan Holiday Inn Convention Center

SHERIDAN — Tickets for Holy Name Catholic School’s Denim & Diamonds annual Mayfest fundraiser are currently on sale.

The event is set for April 22 from 5:30-11 p.m. at the Sheridan Holiday Inn Convention Center. The fundraiser will feature dinner, drinks, dancing and dice. Participants can play for the chance to win prizes — all for the students’ benefit.

“The idea of Mayfest/Denim and Diamonds is to bring the community together as a whole to support the foundation of our community’s future leaders and professionals,” said Jessica Wood, PTO president for HNCS. “Mayfest also brings together teachers, administration, parents and other alumni to really spotlight the family made by HNCS students.”

Dinner will feature an Italian buffet and a full bar, a wine pull and unique and exciting silent auction items, including baskets and works of art put together by HNCS students and teachers. The night will also feature a live auction with Roger St. Clair as auctioneer, and live music by the Boot Hill Band.

HNCS Athletics Director Shawn Lewallen said Mayfest is a time for the people throughout the community to get together, have fun and support the school.

“These events give everyone — parents and teachers — a chance to let loose a little,” Lewallen said.

Tickets are $50 per person or $80 per couple. 

The event is for patrons 21 and older, and is open to the public. Participants can play professional casino-style games for the chance to win prizes.
