WEATHER FROM OUR SPONSORS
SHERIDAN — Sheridan High School has qualified for the We the People state championship on Feb. 6 in Laramie following the district competition held in Casper.
To prepare for the state competition, the Sheridan team has invited interested community members to mark their calendar and watch the state dress rehearsal from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the Inner Circle of the Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library.
Eighteen teams competed at the district competition, and Sheridan will join teams from Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne East, Glenrock, Jackson and Laramie for the state competition.
Students competing at the state championship will be asked two rounds of questions on their study of the U.S. Constitution. The questions include the philosophies underpinning our Constitution, political views of the founders and more. The winner of this competition will represent the state of Wyoming at the We the People national finals in Washington, D.C., on April 21-24.
Sheridan High School has represented the state four times at the national finals and has won back-to-back-to-back championships heading into this year’s competition.
