Basics of Microsoft Word class for 50 and older @ Sheridan College Main Street

Sheridan College’s Center for Workforce and Community Education and the American Association of Community Colleges are presenting a series of classes for people age 50 and over.
Classes will be held the second Tuesday of each month starting in September and ending in June.
The class schedule is:
• Feb. 11 — basics of Microsoft Word
• March 11 — writing attention-grabbing resumes
• April 8 — successful interviews
• May 13 — critical thinking
• June 10 — providing “wow” customer service
All classes are free and will be held from 8-11 a.m. at Sheridan College Main Street, 171 N. Main St. Pre-registration is required.

Conversation in History @ Senior Center conference room

The Sheridan Senior Center will host Helen Laumann of the Sheridan County Historical Society for the next “Conversation in History” on Wednesday.

This series of casual conversations surrounding specific portions of our Sheridan area history is free and open to the public.

The meeting will run from 10-11:15 a.m. in the Senior Center conference room.

The Senior Center is located at 211 Smith St.

Male and Female in “Brown Bag Lunch Seminars” @ Sheridan College Main Street campus Center for Workforce and Community Education

The Sheridan College Main Street campus Center for Workforce and Community Education will present the next topic in the series of “Brown Bag Lunch Seminars” on Wednesday. Lynn Gordon of Family and Personal Counseling Center will present topics on Wednesdays through the end of February including depression, fear, family and codependency and how to take control of these issues. The seminars are free and open to everyone with no reservations required. “Male and Female” will be the topic on Wednesday from 12:10-12:50 p.m. For more information call Gordon at 672-6789. Warriors Don’t Cry @ WYO Theater

The Bushnell Center will present “Warriors Don’t Cry” at the WYO Theater on Wednesday. Part of the Children’s Education and Family series at the theater, the play tells the story of the Little Rock Nine who risked their lives in 1957 to end segregation at Central High School. The play received the American Library Association award, 1995 Nonfiction Book of the Year award and the Robert F. Kennedy Book award. The performance will commence at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $14 for adults, $8 for students and $5 for children ages 12 and younger. Cowboy Country: Photographs by Mary and Arthur ‘Pete’ Dailey artist’s reception @ SAGE Exhibit Gallery inside Sheridan College Main Street

The Sheridan Artists’ Guild, Et al (SAGE) will host an artist’s reception and gallery talk on Thursday.

From 5:30-7 p.m. the public is welcome to visit the gallery and enjoy refreshments as SAGE presents “Cowboy Country: Photographs by Mary and Arthur ‘Pete’ Dailey” which is on display now.

The SAGE Exhibit Gallery is located inside Sheridan College Main Street at 171 N. Main St.

The exhibit will run through the end of the month.

Valentine’s Day buffet and dance @ Best Western Sheridan Center

The Best Western Sheridan Center will host a Valentine’s Day buffet and dance on Feb. 14.

The Jared Stewart Band will perform and a prime rib buffet will be served. Tickets to the dance are $12 per couple, tickets for the dance and buffet are $56 per couple and room packages are also available.

Dinner will be served at 5 p.m. and the band will begin at 9 p.m. A champagne toast will be served at midnight. For more information call 674-7421. The BWSC is located at 612 N. Main St.
