SHERIDAN— The NSI Academy presents their fall fest Friday August 8 and Saturday August 9. On Friday there will be a Pig Spit BBQ and live music by The Craft Brothers starting at 6 p.m. On Saturday at 9 a.m., there will be a 5k Color Run that you can register online for. There will also be a lunch and a duck race. Both days will feature musical performances by the student body and inflatables for the whole family. This event is free and open to the public, but donations are welcome to establish a performing arts program at NSI Academy. The NSI Academy is located at 5 Lane Ln. SHERIDAN— The North Main Association presents a Taste of Sheridan, Sunday, August 10. Come try foods from ten different vendors at Thorne-Rider park from 3-7 p.m. Ten tickets may be purchased at the entrance for $20 and there is a beer and wine garden, kids’ games, and live music performed by Canary Joe, Instagators, and Side Track. SHERIDAN — The next Concert in the Park will be held Tuesday and will feature the Sheridan Concert Band. From 7:30-9 p.m. in the Kendrick Park Bandshell, the concert will be directed by Diane Knutson. The concert is free and open to all members of the community. SHERIDAN — EMIT Technologies, the Recreation District and the Wellness Council have partnered to present ParkFit 2014. Every Wednesday throughout the summer from 12:10-12:50 p.m. a free fitness class will be offered at one of the local parks. SHERIDAN — Sheridan College will hold their next Youth Garden activity Thursday from 9 a.m. until noon.
Children and their families are invited to harvest their garden, and learn how to handle fresh vegetables.
Participants should wear sunblock, bring garden gloves, and plan on getting a little dirty.

SHERIDAN — The next Sheridan Farmers Market will be held Thursday on Grinnell Plaza. From 5-7 p.m. vendors will sell produce, arts and crafts and more as live music, children’s activities, demonstrations and nonprofit booths are hosted. This week’s activities include an acoustic performance by Julie Szewc. Attendance is free for customers and vendor booths are available to rent. SHERIDAN— The SAGE Exhibit Gallery proudly hosts an August art exhibition by members Edre Maier and Sally Labore titled, “This and That.” The show runs August 4-31, with an Artists’ Reception on August 14, 5:30-7 p.m. The public is welcome, and refreshments will be served. SHERIDAN — In celebration of its fourth anniversary, the Kula Space will host “Flavor of the Week,” a weekly free class on Thursdays this summer at 5:30 p.m. Some of the free classes will request optional donations to support a local cause and suggestions of local causes to support are welcome. SHERIDAN— Easter Seals, RENEW, and Eagle Ridge present “Superheroes in the Park” Friday at Kendrick Park. From 10 a.m.-2 p.m. attendees are encouraged to come in a superhero costume, either a known superhero, or one of their own design, and enjoy games and a free lunch. There will also be inflatable slides, a superhero parade, and a photo booth. All programs provide for individuals with developmental disabilities or acquired brain injuries. SHERIDAN— The Trail End Guilds present ‘Wireless’, a live readers’ theater from the golden age of radio.
There will be five skits, including ‘The Bickersons’ and ‘Jack Armstrong, All American Boy’.
All proceeds benefit the Kendrick Mansion and the Trail End Guilds.
Performances are August 15 and 16 at 7 p.m. and August 17 at 2 p.m.
Prices are $15 adults and $12 for kids 17 and under.
