SHERIDAN — The next Concert in the Park will be held Tuesday featuring the Sheridan Concert Band. From 7:30-9 p.m. in the Kendrick Park Bandshell, band members from all around Sheridan will perform a concert. The concert is free and open to all members of the community. Wyoming Wednesdays @ Wyoming Welcome Center

SHERIDAN — The Wyoming Office of Tourism will host the next event in a series of events called “Wyoming Wednesdays.” Informative and interpretive programs about Sheridan are being offered at 10 a.m. most Wednesdays throughout July at the Wyoming Welcome Center. At this week’s event, John Woodward, director of the Sheridan County Museum, will share information about the historic mining towns north of Sheridan. The events are free and open to everyone. Attendees are encouraged to bring picnic lunches and stay and enjoy the Visitor’s Center before or after each program. The center is located off of Interstate 90 on the Fifth Street exit. SHERIDAN — EMIT Technologies, the Recreation District and the Wellness Council have partnered to present ParkFit 2014. Every Wednesday throughout the summer from 12:10-12:50 p.m. a free fitness class will be offered at one of the local parks. The next session will be yoga by Kula Space Wednesday at Marshall Park. Trail maintenance in the wilderness

SHERIDAN — For the next event in a series of outings celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Wilderness Act of 1964 and the 30th anniversary of the Wyoming Wilderness Act of 1984, the Wyoming Wilderness Association will host a hike up Crystal Creek in the Gros Ventre Wilderness on July 24 to view nature at work. This includes an interpretive hike with Tim Farris as he explains backcountry trail maintenance. Hikers will learn how the Forest Service manages challenges in its trail maintenance program. SHERIDAN — The annual Sheridan Farmers Market will commence Thursday at Grinnell Plaza. From 5-7 p.m. weekly on Thursdays vendors will sell produce, arts and crafts and more as live music, children’s activities, demonstrations and nonprofit booths are hosted. Attendance is free for customers and vendor booths are available to rent. This week features Mick Johnson Acoustic and youth activities. SHERIDAN — In celebration of their fourth anniversary, the Kula Space will host “Flavor of the Week,” a weekly free class on Thursdays this summer at 5:30 p.m. Some of the free classes will request optional donations to support a local cause and suggestions of local causes to support are welcome. Casting for Recovery @ Absaroka Ranch

Casting for Recovery, a two and a half day free retreat awarded to 14 women of Wyoming who are breast cancer survivors, will be held July 25-27. The fourth annual event includes fly-fishing instruction, breast cancer information and other tools for healing and socializing, including a psycho-social therapist, a health care professional and river helpers. The services are provided at no cost to the participants thanks to donations from individuals and businesses as well as grants from the Wyoming Community Foundation, Wyoming Affiliate of Susan G. Komen and the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole. The organization is currently seeking residents to apply for the 2014 retreat, which will be held in Dubois at the Absaroka Ranch. Space is limited to 14 participants who will be chosen at random.

SHERIDAN— The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services, Sheridan Workforce Center, and the Sheridan Veterans Administration are partnering to host their second annual job fair on Friday. From 2 p.m. until 4 p.m., the Sheridan VA Medical Center auditorium will open its doors to veterans only, but then starting at 4 p.m., they will open their doors to public job seekers. There will be over 20 employers from all career fields and participants are encouraged to dress for an interview and bring resumes. For more information call 672-9775.

SHERIDAN — For the next event in a series of outings celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Wilderness Act of 1964 and the 30th anniversary of the Wyoming Wilderness Act of 1984, the Wyoming Wilderness Association will host a gradual climb to the top of Brooks Mountain. A moderate to strenuous hike, it leads to a breathtaking drop-off overlooking Brooks Lake and the DuNoir valley, with views of the Tetons. Bring a picnic lunch and spend time discussing the anniversary of wilderness areas The walk will be approximately eight miles roundtrip. SHERIDAN— Sheridan County School District 2 is holding a second opportunity for Kindergarten screening. All Kindergarten parents are urged to have their child attend this screening if they did not do so in April. Appointments can be made by calling 674-7405, extension 5105 no later than August 8. You can register your child for Kindergarten is Sheridan School District 2 at the screening. Parents and guardians need to bring a birth certificate and immunization records to the registration.
