SHERIDAN — The Sheridan Police Department, the Prevention Management Organization of Wyoming and the Wyoming Department of Health will present a free TIPS Training on July 22. From 8-10:30 a.m. and 5-7:30 p.m. beverage service training for concessions will be offered at the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce. “Training for Intervention Procedures” is an internationally recognized alcohol awareness education program that includes subjects such as retail programs, college students and adult consumers. ‘Tidbit Tuesday’ set for next week @ Sheridan County Museum

SHERIDAN — The next offering of the “Tidbit Tuesday” educational program at the Sheridan County Museum will be held next week. The program gives children and their families an opportunity to explore history together from 10 a.m. to noon every other Tuesday throughout the summer. The events are free and open to all but space is limited to 24 children so pre-registration is requested. Subsequent activities will be on Aug. 5 and Aug. 19. SHERIDAN — The Wyoming Office of Tourism will host the next event in a series of events called “Wyoming Wednesdays.” Informative and interpretive programs about Sheridan are being offered at 10 a.m. most Wednesdays throughout July at the Wyoming Welcome Center. At this week’s event, John Woodward, director of the Sheridan County Museum, will share information about the historic mining towns north of Sheridan. The events are free and open to everyone. Attendees are encouraged to bring picnic lunches and stay and enjoy the Visitor’s Center before or after each program. The center is located off of Interstate 90 on the Fifth Street exit. Every Wednesday throughout the summer from 12:10-12:50 p.m. a free fitness class will be offered at one of the local parks. The next session will be yoga by Kula Space Wednesday at Marshall Park. Trail maintenance in the wilderness

SHERIDAN — For the next event in a series of outings celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Wilderness Act of 1964 and the 30th anniversary of the Wyoming Wilderness Act of 1984, the Wyoming Wilderness Association will host a hike up Crystal Creek in the Gros Ventre Wilderness on July 24 to view nature at work. This includes an interpretive hike with Tim Farris as he explains backcountry trail maintenance. Hikers will learn how the Forest Service manages challenges in its trail maintenance program. Casting for Recovery @ Absaroka Ranch

Casting for Recovery, a two and a half day free retreat awarded to 14 women of Wyoming who are breast cancer survivors, will be held July 25-27. The fourth annual event includes fly-fishing instruction, breast cancer information and other tools for healing and socializing, including a psycho-social therapist, a health care professional and river helpers. The services are provided at no cost to the participants thanks to donations from individuals and businesses as well as grants from the Wyoming Community Foundation, Wyoming Affiliate of Susan G. Komen and the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole. The organization is currently seeking residents to apply for the 2014 retreat, which will be held in Dubois at the Absaroka Ranch. Space is limited to 14 participants who will be chosen at random.

SHERIDAN— The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services, Sheridan Workforce Center, and the Sheridan Veterans Administration are partnering to host their second annual job fair on Friday. From 2 p.m. until 4 p.m., the Sheridan VA Medical Center auditorium will open its doors to veterans only, but then starting at 4 p.m., they will open their doors to public job seekers. There will be over 20 employers from all career fields and participants are encouraged to dress for an interview and bring resumes. For more information call 672-9775.

A moderate to strenuous hike, it leads to a breathtaking drop-off overlooking Brooks Lake and the DuNoir valley, with views of the Tetons. Bring a picnic lunch and spend time discussing the anniversary of wilderness areas The walk will be approximately eight miles roundtrip.
