City meeting on water meter replacements @ Sheridan County YMCA
Apr 6 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

SHERIDAN — City staff will host a public meeting on Wednesday from 6-7 p.m. at the Sheridan County YMCA youth room to discuss a water meter replacement project.

The project will begin this fall. Most water meters in Sheridan County are about 20 years old and in need of replacement.

Later this year the city of Sheridan and the Sheridan Area Water Supply Joint Powers Board will begin installing new water meters in approximately 9,000 locations across the county. Meter-reading infrastructure within the water service area also will be updated.

State grants will cover half of the project costs. The remaining cost of the project will be managed with a 20-year, zero-percent state loan.

According to city officials, installing meters all at once also allows for bulk purchasing, efficient use of city resources and convenient/consistent installation for citizens.

The next steps include the city hiring a vendor to design the infrastructure and to procure and install the meters.

City officials estimate that the project will begin by the end of this year. Customers will be notified when installations begin in their area so that they may schedule a convenient time for meter replacement.
