Shopapalooza to benefit Advocacy and Resource center @ Best Western Sheridan Center

SHERIDAN—The Advocacy and resource center is holding a benefit Shopapalooza Thursday, Oct. 2. From 5:30-8 p.m. there will be an opportunity to bid on new and used handbags, jewelry, scarves and accessories. Hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar will be available. The event is located at the Best Western Sheridan Center and tickets are $15. You can pick up tickets at the Advocacy and Resource Center or at the door.

Pink Bronc Day @ Sheridan High School

HERIDAN—Sheridan High School is once again recognizing and supporting those with cancer as they prepare for “Pink Bronc Day” today. Student organization FBLA is selling shirts with the slogan “SHS Stomps Together Against Breast Cancer” at the high school for $10 each. All proceeds will be donated. The school wants to show our support especially for longtime employee Maxine Fudge who will celebrate 10 years as a cancer survivor on Oct. 7 and Linda Trimmer who is 1 year cancer free.

In addition, SHS Interact Club donated fabric and activities secretary Debbie Hanson has created a beautiful pink quilt that will be raffled using past pink bronc tee-shirts.

Tickets are available at Sheridan High School and at the hospital. The quilt will be displayed on Oct. 11 during Sheridan Memorial Hospital Foundation’s 6th Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Event in Whitney Commons. The drawing will take place on Oct. 11. “Downton and Denim” banquet @ Whitney Academic Center

SHERIDAN—As a fundraiser for the Sheridan College Fine and Performing Arts department, the college will host the “Downton & Denim Banquet,” on Friday, Oct. 3.

The event will take place in the Whitney Academic Center Atrium. Cocktails and appetizers will begin at 6 p.m. and dinner will follow at 6:30 p.m. The Edwardian era, the early 1900s in the United Kingdom under the rule of King Edward VII, will be the theme of the evening.

The hit TV show, “Downton Abbey,” takes place in the post-Edwardian era. Dr. Walter Nolte, president of Casper College and a renowned Edwardian historian, will be the special guest of the evening.

Guests are asked to dress in “Downton Abbey” formal attire, cowboy formal or business attire. Tickets are $50 and can be purchased at the Whitney Front Desk or by calling (307) 674-6446.

First Friday Comedy Night @ Holiday Inn

SHERIDAN— The Holiday Inn is hosting first Friday comedy night this Friday with comedian Ron Ferguson. Fifty percent of the proceeds go to the Kelly Schreibeis Memorial Fund to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The event starts at 8 p.m. and tickets are $7 in advance, $4 with valid student or military I.D. or all tickets $10 at the door. For more information call April at 672-2690.

Dog and Cat Shelter Calendar Contest @ Dog and Cat Shelter

SHERIDAN—The Sheridan Dog and Cat Shelter is holding their annual calendar contest this month. Photos of any animals are accepted, but there cannot be a human in them. The cost is $15 per photo, and you can bring them down to the shelter from Noon until 6 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday or 11 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Saturdays. Entries are accepted until Oct. 17 and will be displayed at the Warehouse Market and online. For more information go to www.dogandcatshelter.org.

Wyoming Women’s Antelope Hunt auction and dinner @ The Ranch at Ucross

‘The Links’ partner in Pink @ Whitney Commons

SHERIDAN— The Sheridan Memorial Hospital Foundation is holding its sixth annual breast cancer awareness event, “The Link”, Saturday, Oct. 11. There will be a 10k run, a 5k walk/run, and a 1.5 mile walk. $35 registration includes t-shirt, chip timing, and snacks. The event will begin at Whitney Commons, 326 Alger St. Registrations accepted at www.sheridanhospital.org or dropped off at the front desk. Bike-tober Fest @ Sheridan County Fairgrounds

SHERIDAN— Bike-tober Fest is on Saturday, Oct. 11 and features mountain bike races and trail runs. Race registration includes chip timing, t-shirt, food and beer tickets, and admission to the after party with live music, kids’ races, and a raffle. Candidate Forum @ Whitney Presentation Hall/Sheridan College

SHERIDAN—Election day is Nov. 4 and there will be another candidate forum next Tuesday and Wednesday. This is an opportunity for candidates to share their views with the public. Candidates for local positions will speak on Tuesday and state and federal candidates will speak on Wednesday. Both forums are in the Whitney Presentation Hall at the Sheridan College, 3059 Coffeen Ave. at 7 p.m.
