Author Abbie Johnson reading @ Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library

SHERIDAN— Local author Abbie Johnson will read from her work Saturday. Johnson will be at the Sheridan County Fulmer Library at 2 p.m., and will read from her novel, ‘We Shall Overcome’, as well as poems from two of her collections. Harold Johnson Cancer Benefit @ Elks Lodge

SHERIDAN— The Elks Lodge will hold a fundraiser for Harold Johnson to help raise money for his cancer challenge. From 4-6p.m. on Saturday there will be a dinner, live music, and an auction. The cost is $10 and the lodge is located at 45 W. Brundage St. If you can’t make it, you can send donations to the Harold Johnson Fund, PO box 5082, Sheridan, WY 82801. 4-H Buyers’ Reception and Livestock Sale @ Sheridan County Fairgrounds

SHERIDAN— The Chamber’s Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee and the Sheridan County Cattlewomen are holding the 10th annual Buyers’ Reception. The reception precedes the 4-H/FFA livestock sale on Monday, August 4, at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds. Tidbit Tuesdays @ Sheridan County Museum

SHERIDAN — The next offering of the “Tidbit Tuesday” educational program at the Sheridan County Museum will be held next week. The program gives children and their families an opportunity to explore history together from 10 a.m. to noon every other Tuesday throughout the summer. The events are free and open to all, but space is limited to 24 children so pre-registration is requested. Subsequent activities will be on Aug. 19. For more information or to register call 675-1150. Jentel Presents @ Sagebrush Community Art Center

SHERIDAN— Jentel Artist Residency Program is pleased to present this month’s residents. “Jentel Presents” will take place Tuesday, from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Sagebrush Community Art Center. This month’s presenters include an encaustic artist, a performance artist, a narrative fiction writer, a painter, a photographer and a fiction writer. The art center is located on the corner of Fifth and Broadway, and this event is free and open to the public.

Candidate Forum @ Sheridan College Whitney Presentation Hall

SHERIDAN— The Chamber’s Governmental Affairs Committee is hosting a Candidate Forum Tuesday and Wednesday, August 5 and 6. This is a chance for the public to ask all of the candidates, both locally and at a state level, questions. On Tuesday, candidates for U.S. and State positions will be at Sheridan College’s Whitney presentation hall, 3059 Coffeen Ave. On Wednesday, candidates for County, City and Town positions will be there. Concert in the Park @ Kendrick Park

HERIDAN — The next Concert in the Park will be held Tuesday and will feature the Sheridan Concert Band. From 7:30-9 p.m. in the Kendrick Park Bandshell, directed by Don Cherni and Areil Downing. The concert is free and open to all members of the community. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Food concessions will be available.
