SHERIDAN— The Never Flinch annual Summer Slam will be on Saturday, August 2 at 8 a.m. at the Sheridan YMCA. The annual Summer Slam is a 3-on-3, co-ed grass volleyball tournament that will help raise funds for the Weston Johnson Memorial Scholarship. SHERIDAN — For the next event in a series of outings celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Wilderness Act of 1964 and the 30th anniversary of the Wyoming Wilderness Act of 1984, the Wyoming Wilderness Association will host a Grizzly Bear ecology tour in the Shoshone National Forest. On Saturday, Chuck Neal, a retired U.S. Department of the Interior ecologist, will lead the group into grizzly bear country and teach the ecology and biology of the bears. Bring a picnic lunch and spend time discussing the anniversary of wilderness areas. The walk will be approximately 5 miles roundtrip, and is a steep uphill climb. SHERIDAN— Local musician and music therapist Michele Foster will present a free class on basic guitar skills. Folster will be at the Sheridan Fulmer Library on Saturday from 10-11:30 a.m. This class is meant for beginners interested in learning how to play the guitar. SHERIDAN— Local author Abbie Johnson will read from her work Saturday. Johnson will be at the Sheridan County Fulmer Library at 2 p.m., and will read from her novel, ‘We Shall Overcome’, as well as poems from two of her collections. SHERIDAN— The Elks Lodge will hold a fundraiser for Harold Johnson to help raise money for his cancer challenge. From 4-6p.m. on Saturday there will be a dinner, live music, and an auction.
