Flavor of the Week will benefit The Food Group @ Journey's Center of Wellbeing

SHERIDAN — In celebration of their fourth anniversary, the Kula Space will host “Flavor of the Week,” a weekly free class on Thursdays this summer at 5:30 p.m. Some of the free classes will request optional donations to support a local cause and suggestions of local causes to support are welcome. This week’s class will be Barre Body with Michele. Sign-up is required and it is limited to 12. Donations will benefit The Food Group. Nothing but nets @ Kendrick Park

SHERIDAN— Help the Sheridan Jaycees raise funds to prevent malaria in Africa. On Thursday, August 7, there will be family fun at Kendrick Park starting at 6 p.m. There will be live entertainment from the Boot Hill band, dance lessons, silent auction, food vendors, and adult beverages. This is a fundraiser for Nothing but Nets, an international organization that supplies bed nets to African families. The event is free, but donations are appreciated. NSI Fall Festival @ NSI Academy

SHERIDAN— The NSI Academy presents their fall fest Friday August 8 and Saturday August 9. On Friday there will be a Pig Spit BBQ and live music by The Craft Brothers starting at 6 p.m. On Saturday at 9 a.m., there will be a 5k Color Run that you can register online for. There will also be a lunch and a duck race. Both days will feature musical performances by the student body and inflatables for the whole family. This event is free and open to the public, but donations are welcome to establish a performing arts program at NSI Academy. The NSI Academy is located at 5 Lane Ln. Taste of Sheridan @ Thorne-Rider Park

SHERIDAN— The North Main Association presents a Taste of Sheridan, Sunday, August 10. Come try foods from ten different vendors at Thorne-Rider park from 3-7 p.m. Ten tickets may be purchased at the entrance for $20 and there is a beer and wine garden, kids’ games, and live music performed by Canary Joe, Instagators, and Side Track. Superheroes in the park @ Kendrick Park

SHERIDAN— Easter Seals, RENEW, and Eagle Ridge present “Superheroes in the Park” Friday at Kendrick Park. From 10 a.m.-2 p.m. attendees are encouraged to come in a superhero costume, either a known superhero, or one of their own design, and enjoy games and a free lunch. There will also be inflatable slides, a superhero parade, and a photo booth. All programs provide for individuals with developmental disabilities or acquired brain injuries. Final Tidbit Tuesdays August 19 @ Sheridan County Museum

SHERIDAN — The next and final offering of the “Tidbit Tuesday” educational program at the Sheridan County Museum will be held on Tuesday. The program gives children and their families an opportunity to explore history together from 10 a.m. to noon every other Tuesday throughout the summer. The events are free and open to all, but space is limited to 24 children so pre-registration is requested. For more information or to register call 675-1150. Farmer’s Market and Third Thursday Street Fest @ Grinnell Street Plaza

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan Farmers Market will be moved farther up Grinnell Street this Thursday, in front of The Sheridan Press, to celebrate the Third Thursday Street Festival.

From 5-7 p.m. vendors will sell produce, arts and crafts and more as live music, children’s activities, demonstrations and nonprofit booths are hosted.

Rockin Jake will perform from 5:30 p.m.-9 p.m. on the Main Stage and Canary Joe will perform at the same time on Loucks and Main Street.

Big Sky Dowser’s Convention @ Moose Lodge

BILLINGS— The Big Sky Dowser will meet at its 37th annual convention from Aug. 23-24 at the Moose Lodge in Billings, Mont.

Dowsing is a type of divination employed in attempts to locate ground water, buried metals or ores, gemstones, oil and many other objects and materials without the use of scientific apparatus.

Come to the convention and learn about dowsing and see it demonstrated and learn the technique. The special presenter will be Big Sky Dowser Charter Member Vern Bandy who will demonstrate dowsing rods he personally designed.

Sheridan Dog and Cat Shelter renovations @ Sheridan Dog and Cat Shelter

SHERIDAN— Pedigree and GreaterGood have teamed up to give selected shelters across the nation a makeover.

The Sheridan Dog and Cat Shelter has been selected to receive renovation, and needs volunteers to help finish the project.

The renovations will begin Aug. 23 and 24 at 9 a.m.
