NSI Fall Festival @ NSI Academy

SHERIDAN— The NSI Academy presents their fall fest Friday August 8 and Saturday August 9. On Friday there will be a Pig Spit BBQ and live music by The Craft Brothers starting at 6 p.m. On Saturday at 9 a.m., there will be a 5k Color Run that you can register online for. There will also be a lunch and a duck race. Both days will feature musical performances by the student body and inflatables for the whole family. This event is free and open to the public, but donations are welcome to establish a performing arts program at NSI Academy. The NSI Academy is located at 5 Lane Ln. Taste of Sheridan @ Thorne-Rider Park

SHERIDAN— The North Main Association presents a Taste of Sheridan, Sunday, August 10. Come try foods from ten different vendors at Thorne-Rider park from 3-7 p.m. Ten tickets may be purchased at the entrance for $20 and there is a beer and wine garden, kids’ games, and live music performed by Canary Joe, Instagators, and Side Track. ‘This and That’ artist reception @ SAGE Exhibit Gallery

SHERIDAN— The SAGE Exhibit Gallery proudly hosts an August art exhibition by members Edre Maier and Sally Labore titled, “This and That.” The show runs August 4-31, with an Artists’ Reception on August 14, 5:30-7 p.m. The public is welcome, and refreshments will be served. The SAGE Exhibit Gallery is located in what is now the Sheridan Chamber of Commerce on 171 Main St. For more information call 674-1970.

Sheridan Dog and Cat Shelter renovations @ Sheridan Dog and Cat Shelter

SHERIDAN— Pedigree and GreaterGood have teamed up to give selected shelters across the nation a makeover.

The Sheridan Dog and Cat Shelter has been selected to receive renovation, and needs volunteers to help finish the project.

The renovations will begin Aug. 23 and 24 at 9 a.m.

Blacktooth Brewing non-profit night @ Blacktooth Brewing

SHERIDAN— Blacktooth Brewing will host a non-profit event on Tuesday from 5:30-7:30 p.m. For every pint sold, one dollar is donated to the Matthew Perkins Memorial Scholarship Fund. The Matthew Perkins Memorial Scholarship Fund is money that helps to subsidize educational travel opportunities for Sheridan High School and Fort McKenzie High School students. 50/50 tickets will be sold and Thrivent Builds will provide free hotdogs. ‘Jentel Presents’ on Tuesday @ Sagebrush Community Art Center

SHERIDAN—Jentel Artist Residency Program is pleased to present this month’s residents in an event open to the public. “Jentel Presents” is on Tuesday from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at Sagebrush Community Art Center, on the corner of Fifth and Broadway. Presenters include: Sarah Tortora, a mixed media sculptor, JS Bird, a painter, Marie Carvalho, a poet, Steve Adams, a creative non-fiction writer, Wendy Kveck, an oil painter and Devon Midori Hale, a graphite artist. “Scenes in the City” reception @ SAGE Exhibit Gallery

SHERIDAN—Two National art exhibitions open in Sheridan this September: “Scenes in the City,” and “Celebrating Wyoming’s Wilderness,” showing at the SAGE Gallery on Main Street and Sagebrush Art Center.

The “Scenes in the City” show, sponsored by the City of Sheridan and SAGE, opens Sept. 2 at the SAGE Main Street Gallery, located in the Sheridan Chamber of Commerce at 171 Main St.

Juror Danna Hildebrand, a former Sheridan resident and Sheridan College art instructor, will award a $1000 prize for “Best of Show” at the opening reception Thursday, Sept. 4 from 5-7 p.m.

“Celebrating Wyoming’s Wilderness” will be at the Sagebrush Art Center’s front gallery, located at 201 E. Fifth St., with an opening reception on Friday, Sept. 5 from 5-7 p.m.

SHERIDAN— Powder Horn Kadies Golf Association and Sheridan Memorial Hospital Foundation are teaming up for two fundraisers next week. The events benefit medical advancements for Sheridan Hospital, or M.A.S.H. On Friday at 6 p.m. at the fairgrounds, there will be live music by Sidetrack, a buffet dinner from Big Horn Mountain Caterers, plus auctions. Tickets are $50 per person and you can get them by calling 673-2417. On Saturday, Sept. 6 at the Powder Horn golf course, there will be an 18-hole women’s scramble. Out of the Darkness Walk @ Grinnell Street Plaza

SHERIDAN— More than 200 people from throughout Sheridan and Buffalo are expected to participate in the upcoming Out of the Darkness Community Walk on Saturday, Sept. 6. The fundraising walk supports the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) and AFSP Wyoming by helping to support local and national suicide prevention and awareness programs to reduce the annual rate of suicide by 20 percent by 2025. The Sheridan County Out of the Darkness Walk is one of more than 360 Out of the Darkness Community Walks being held this fall nationwide. The walks are expected to unite more than 100,000 walkers nationally and raise more than $12 million for suicide prevention efforts. The Sheridan County community walk will begin at Grinnell Plaza from 9-10 a.m. for registration and end at approximately noon. The Sheridan walk will have speaker, Shaun Damico, who will also be performing. There will be art projects including chalk art and memory rocks, a memory board for those who would like to share pictures of their loved ones, breakfast and coffee for volunteers prior to the walk and lunch for participants following the walk. For those interested in participating, or already registered, who may not be able to physically endure the walk route, there will be the opportunity to travel the last leg of the walk back into the square as the group returns. A private tent will also be available for those who feel as though they need mental health assistance and referral information. For more information call Sydney Rowe at 307-620-9995.
