SHERIDAN — Sheridan Memorial Hospital employees and volunteers will feature homemade items at the annual Christmas craft bazaar Thursday.

The event will run from 4:30-7 p.m. in the conference rooms on the lower level of the hospital.

The public is invited to shop, and drawings will be held at 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. You must be present to win.

Bought Beautifully will present the “Give With Impact” holiday market from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Shall We Dance Ballroom.

The holiday gift market will feature products made by artisans all over the world, but that come only from vendors that help make a positive impact on the global community.

The “Closet” will be open and booths of baked goods, crafts, oldies and goodies as well as a children’s shopping room will be included in the bazaar.

All proceeds from the sale will benefit the Methodist women’s mission projects.

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce luncheon set for Wednesday, March 11, will feature a recap of the 63rd legislative session that is wrapping up in Cheyenne this week.

The luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the Best Western Sheridan Center.

Local legislators will share issues and accomplishments that arose during the legislative session that could affect local businesses.

The luncheon is open to the public. The cost for the buffet lunch is $15.

Sage Grouse Implementation Team mapping subcommittee meeting @ Johnson County Fire Control in Buffalo

SHERIDAN — Wyoming’s Sage Grouse Implementation Team mapping subcommittee will be meeting in Buffalo Tuesday, April 28, to provide opportunity for the public to comment on proposed revisions to sage-grouse core area boundaries.

The meeting is one of several held around the state based on Wyoming’s eight sage-grouse Local Working Group areas.

The meeting will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Buffalo fire hall to review proposed revisions for the Bighorn Basin and Northeast Local Working Group areas.

In addition to these meetings of the Governor’s Sage-Grouse Implementation Team mapping subcommittee, a meeting will be held in Casper at 6 p.m. on May 5 at the Game and Fish office to deliberate proposals from Tuesday’s meeting.

The governor’s Sage Grouse Implementation Team was formed by Gov. Matt Mead to address issues that come up with the implementation of the Sage Grouse Executive Order.

This ladies night out and fashion show fundraiser for Bought Beautifully will allow participants to experience the latest fashions, talk with stylists on how to enhance their wardrobe, learn style tips, purchase products that make a positive impact, enjoy wine, desserts and late-night dancing and celebrate women worldwide.

The Sheridan Memorial Hospital Foundation will host its 2014-2015 annual meeting and report on Tuesday from 4-5 p.m. at Sheridan Memorial Hospital in conference room A&B.

The meeting is open to all members of the community.

The accomplishments of the foundation over the past year will be recognized, retiring board members will be honored and attendees will hear a hospital update from Sheridan Memorial Hospital Chief Executive Officer Mike McCafferty. There will also be a special guest sharing her story about her journey through cancer diagnosis and the treatment she received at the Welch Cancer Center.

Each meeting will begin at 6 p.m., and all members of the community are invited to attend.

The first meeting will be held Monday at the Tongue River Valley Community Center in Ranchester.

Forest Plan Steering Committee field trip @ Arrowhead Lodge

Bighorn National Forest managers and members of the Forest Plan Steering Committee will meet Thursday for the annual forest plan monitoring and evaluation field trip. Participants will meet at Arrowhead Lodge at 10 a.m. before proceeding to different locations in the Tongue Ranger District. Discussion topics include wetland mitigation for the Burgess South highway project, travel management, trails, recreation sites and forest plan monitoring. The field trip will conclude around 3:30 pm at the last stop on the tour, the Hunt Mountain Gravel Pit. The field trip is open to the public. Drinking water will be provided, but participants should bring their own field gear. The group will take a lunch break at Bear Lodge at 12:30 pm. For more information, call Susie Douglas at 674-2600. UW’s outreach for presidential search

Members of the University of Wyoming community and people around Wyoming have an opportunity to voice their desired qualifications and characteristics for a new UW president.

Presidential search listening sessions are scheduled on the Laramie campus and at UW-Casper with video-conferencing connections to many Wyoming communities, including Sheridan. Input gathered from the meetings will help guide the selection committee as they consider candidates.

A statewide outreach meeting, originating in Casper, will be broadcast through UW’s Outreach Video Network Monday from 5-6:30 p.m. Members of the community interested in participating can connect to the network at Sheridan College in the Watt Building, room 132.

Mental health summit @ Elks Lodge

The Sheridan VA Medical Center has organized a mental health summit to bring together key stakeholders in the community with two goals: enhancing access to mental health services and addressing the mental health care needs of veterans and their family members residing in the Sheridan area. Led by mental health professionals.

9-9:30 a.m. – welcome and description of the VA’s current services
9:30-10:30 a.m. – three breakout discussion sessions: 10 elements of recovery, mental health inpatient needs, homeless challenge

11:45 a.m. – 1:15 p.m. – lunch on your own, poster sessions
1:15-1:30 p.m. – plenary session and housekeeping items

3-3:30 p.m. – closing remarks and future direction

American Legion Auxiliary to host public luncheon @ Country Kitchen

The American Legion Auxiliary will host a public luncheon to introduce its new department president.

Rebecca Allred will serve as the Department of Wyoming American Legion Auxiliary president for the 2015-16 year.

Allred joined the auxiliary sponsored by her husband, Sherman Allred, a veteran of the Vietnam era. She has served as Marion Tanner Unit 29 president, two-time District 4 president and held the department offices of chaplain and vice president/membership chairman. In 2001, she received the American Legion Educator of the Year award for Wyoming.

The meet and greet luncheon will be held at the Country Kitchen at noon on Tuesday.

It is free to attend and lunch can be purchased off the menu. All members of the public are welcome.

SHERIDAN — Bought Beautifully, a locally based online vendor that promotes purchases that have a positive impact around the world, has teamed up with local merchants Over the Moon, Paisley and Pearls, Evermore, Journey’s, Twin M, Matilda Jane and Twisted Hearts to host Fashion with Impact.

This ladies night out and fashion show fundraiser for Bought Beautifully will allow participants to experience the latest fashions, talk with stylists on how to enhance their wardrobe, learn style tips, purchase products that make a positive impact, enjoy wine, desserts and late-night dancing and celebrate women worldwide.

Tickets are $25 or two for $40. They can be purchased online at blog.boughtbeautifully.org/fashion-with-impact.

The event will be held at 7 p.m. May 1 in the Old Sheridan Press Building at 237 N. Main St. on the second floor.

The Sheridan Memorial Hospital Foundation will host its 2014-2015 annual meeting and report on Tuesday from 4-5 p.m. at Sheridan Memorial Hospital in conference room A&B.

The meeting is open to all members of the community.

The accomplishments of the foundation over the past year will be recognized, retiring board members will be honored and attendees will hear a hospital update from Sheridan Memorial Hospital Chief Executive Officer Mike McCafferty. There will also be a special guest sharing her story about her journey through cancer diagnosis and the treatment she received at the Welch Cancer Center.

Light refreshments will be served.

The Antelope Butte Foundation, whose mission is to provide accessible, affordable skiing and year-round mountain recreation and training in the Bighorn Mountains, will host public information and outreach meetings throughout the region.

The meetings are designed to give a progress report and provide information about ABF’s goal to reopen the ski area located 59 miles west of Sheridan.

Each meeting will begin at 6 p.m., and all members of the community are invited to attend.

The first meeting will be held Monday at the Tongue River Valley Community Center in Ranchester.

The TRVCC is located at 411 Dayton St. in Ranchester.

Another meeting will be held Tuesday in Sheridan at the Sports Stop store.

The Sports Stop is located at 208 N. Main St.

Forest Plan Steering Committee field trip @ Arrowhead Lodge

Bighorn National Forest managers and members of the Forest Plan Steering Committee will meet Thursday for the annual forest plan monitoring and evaluation field trip. Participants will meet at Arrowhead Lodge at 10 a.m. before proceeding to different locations in the Tongue Ranger District. Discussion topics include wetland mitigation for the Burgess South highway project, travel management, trails, recreation sites and forest plan monitoring. The field trip will conclude around 3:30 pm at the last stop on the tour, the Hunt Mountain Gravel Pit. The field trip is open to the public. Drinking water will be provided, but participants should bring their own field gear. The group will take a lunch break at Bear Lodge at 12:30 pm. For more information, call Susie Douglas at 674-2600. UW’s outreach for presidential search

Members of the University of Wyoming community and people around Wyoming have an opportunity to voice their desired qualifications and characteristics for a new UW president.

Presidential search listening sessions are scheduled on the Laramie campus and at UW-Casper with video-conferencing connections to many Wyoming communities, including Sheridan. Input gathered from the meetings will help guide the selection committee as they consider candidates.

A statewide outreach meeting, originating in Casper, will be broadcast through UW’s Outreach Video Network Monday from 5-6:30 p.m. Members of the community interested in participating can connect to the network at Sheridan College in the Watt Building, room 132.

Mental health summit @ Elks Lodge

The Sheridan VA Medical Center has organized a mental health summit to bring together key stakeholders in the community with two goals: enhancing access to mental health services and addressing the mental health care needs of veterans and their family members residing in the Sheridan area. Led by mental health professionals.

SCHEDULE:
8:30-9:00 a.m. – registration
9-9:30 a.m. – welcome and description of the VA’s current services
9:30-10:30 a.m. – three breakout discussion sessions: 10 elements of recovery, mental health inpatient needs, homeless challenge
10:45-11:45 a.m. – three breakout discussions: caregiver/family support, Indian health services, homeless challenge
11:45 a.m. – 1:15 p.m. – lunch on your own, poster sessions
1:15-1:30 p.m. – plenary session and housekeeping items
1:30-3 p.m. – summary of sessions, discussion
3-3:30 p.m. – closing remarks and future direction

American Legion Auxiliary to host public luncheon @ Country Kitchen

The American Legion Auxiliary will host a public luncheon to introduce its new department president.

Rebecca Allred will serve as the Department of Wyoming American Legion Auxiliary president for the 2015-16 year.

Allred joined the auxiliary sponsored by her husband, Sherman Allred, a veteran of the Vietnam era. She has served as Marion Tanner Unit 29 president, two-time District 4 president and held the department offices of chaplain and vice president/membership chairman. In 2001, she received the American Legion Educator of the Year award for Wyoming.

The meet and greet luncheon will be held at the Country Kitchen at noon on Tuesday.

It is free to attend and lunch can be purchased off the menu. All members of the public are welcome.
