Moments of Seeing: The Art of Teresa Jordan and Chessney Sevier @ Ucross Foundation Art Gallery

SHERIDAN — A new exhibit is opening at the Ucross Foundation Art Gallery on Feb. 15 and an artist’s reception will be held.
“Moments of Seeing: The Art of Teresa Jordan and Chessney Sevier” will feature monotypes and hand-colored monotypes by Jordan and paintings and intaglio etchings by Sevier.
The reception will run from 3-5 p.m. and will include a special performance in the Barn Loft at 4 p.m. featuring music and stories by Jordan and her husband, Hal Cannon, the executive director of the Western Folklife Center and National Poetry Gathering in Elko, Nev.
The event is free and open to the public.
The exhibit will be on display through May 9.
The gallery is located at 30 Big Red Lane, Ucross.

Family and codependency: We are from where we came @ Sheridan College Main Street campus Center for Workforce and Community Education

The Sheridan College Main Street campus Center for Workforce and Community Education will present the next topic in the series of “Brown Bag Lunch Seminars” on  Feb. 19.

Lynn Gordon of Family and Personal Counseling Center will present topics on Wednesdays through the end of February including depression, fear, family and codependency and how to take control of these issues.

The seminars are free and open to everyone with no reservations required

“Family and codependency: We are from where we came” will be the topic on Wednesday from 12:10-12:50 p.m.

Enroll Wyoming @ Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library

SHERIDAN — Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library will host two events this week to provide assistance with the Health Insurance Marketplace.

On Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. and Thursday from noon to 6 p.m. in The Inner Circle “Enroll Wyoming” will be offered.

A new Health Insurance Marketplace is now open in Wyo., where consumers can find a variety of health plans which all cover prescriptions, hospital stays, doctor visits and more.

Those interested may qualify for financial help to afford these plans.

Trained navigators are available to help consumers understand the insurance plans available and assist in the enrollment process on healthcare.gov.

Wednesday night’s program will be a presentation and Thursday will offer drop-in assistance hours.

Sheridan County Historical Society program @ Downtown Sheridan Association Community Room

The Sheridan County Historical Society will host Veronica Hagemann on Wednesday. Hagemann will discuss the archival project at the Wyoming Girls School. The program is free and open to the general public. The event will commence at 7 p.m. and coffee and cookies will be served. The meeting will be held at the Downtown Sheridan Association Community Room located at the corner of North Main Street and Coffeen Avenue.

AARP meeting @ Sheridan Senior Center

The Sheridan chapter of AARP will host a meeting Friday. The program will include a potluck, a summary of the Soup-er Bowl Food Drive, a proposal of a new summer outreach activity to be organized by the chapter and bingo. The event is free and open to everyone. Attendees are asked to bring their own place settings and a covered dish to share, and the chapter will provide fried chicken. Big Horn Historical Society potluck and program @ Big Horn Woman’s Club clubhouse

The Big Horn Historical Society will host a potluck and program Sunday. The free meeting is open to all members of the community. The potluck will begin at 1 p.m. at the Big Horn Woman’s Club clubhouse. Attendees are asked to bring a dish to share. At 1:50 p.m. Helen Laumann will present a program on the CCC Camp and guests can arrive at this time if they choose not to participate in the potluck. The clubhouse is located at 314 S. Second St., Big Horn.

“Back to the Drawing Board” artist’s reception @ Martinsen Gallery at Sheridan College

A new art exhibit, “Back to the Drawing Board” by Christie American Horse, will open at the Martinsen Gallery on Tuesday, commencing with an artist’s reception. On Tuesday from 4-5 p.m. the public is invited to the free reception at Sheridan College. American Horse, who was born cross-eyed but overcame the condition, has worked in many mediums including oils, pastels, acrylics, watercolors, charcoal and graphite. The exhibit will focus on her drawings, which she states is her favorite part of the painting process. She is the daughter of fellow local artist Fred Goehring and a graduate of Northwest Nazarene University in Idaho. The exhibit will run through April 8. The gallery is located in the Whitney building of SC located at 3059 Coffeen Ave.

Forest service photos reception @ The Inner Circle at Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library

Photographs taken in the Cloud Peak Wilderness area will be on display in The Inner Circle at Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library during the month of March. Local representatives of the US Forest Service will be displaying the photographs as a part of their celebration of the 50th anniversary of the signing of The Wilderness Act. A reception will be held on Monday from 5-7 p.m. to mark the opening. All members of the community are invited to attend this free event. Jentel Presents @ Sagebrush Community Art Center

Jentel Artist Residency Program will host their March “Jentel Presents” on Tuesday. “Jentel Presents” is a free community outreach event open to everyone which features visual presentations and readings by artist in residency. The event will take place from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Sagebrush Community Art Center and refreshments will be served. This month’s presenters include playwright Barbara Lindsay, mixed media artist Laini Nemett, metal smith Lori Swartz and printmaker Junko Yamamoto. What’s happening at the Inn @ Designing Dinners

Akcita Win will host a program on Tuesday.

Commencing at 6 p.m. Diana Johnson, volunteer coordinator for the Historic Sheridan Inn will present “What’s happening at the Inn?”

The meeting will be held at Designing Dinners and food may be ordered off the menu but is not required to attend.

All members of the community are welcome to attend. Members of the organization are invited to take part in the secret sister program and secret sister assignments will be made at this meeting.
