Sheridan High School Jazz Band concert @ Sue Henry Auditorium at Sheridan High School

The Sheridan High School Jazz Band will perform their Festival Concert on Tuesday. The band will be playing songs which they will be performing at the Kinser Jazz Festival in Casper and the Northwest Jazz Festival in Powell later this year. The performance will commence at 7 p.m. at the Sue Henry Auditorium of SHS. The concert is free and open to the public. Performances will include pieces such as “Solar and Nardis” by Miles Davis and “I’m Beginning to See the Light” by Duke Ellington, and will be directed by Diane Knutson. Lead trombone player Grandy Craft has been selected to play in the All-State Jazz Band and will be featured on a solo arrangement at the concert. For more information call the school at 672-2495. Celtic Sage concert @ Sheridan Senior Center
Mar 12 @ 5:30 pm – 6:00 pm

The Sheridan Senior Center will host “Celtic Sage” on Wednesday. The band will perform a free concert of seasonal music from 11:30 a.m. to noon. Lunch may be ordered for a charge but is not necessary to attend the performance. Chicken enchiladas will be served. The concert and lunch are open to all. The Josties concert @ Tongue River Valley Community Center

The Josties, a family from Southern Alberta, Canada, will perform three free concerts March 14, 15 and 16. Parents Dale and Lisa Jost along with their 11 children perform a mix of religious, acoustic country, folk and light contemporary music. The free concert is sponsored by the Pastors United in Christ but donations will be accepted. All members of the public are welcome to attend. The show March 14 commences at 6 p.m. at the Tongue River Valley Community Center. March 15 the show will be at the same location at 2 p.m. March 16 the Josties will perform at The Historic Sheridan Inn at 6 p.m. For more information call Sherm Weberg at 655-3036. The TRVCC is located at 1100 Highway 14, Dayton. The inn is located at 856 Broadway Street.

Colcannon concert @ WYO Theater

The WYO Theater will again host perennial performers Colcannon. Colcannon performs Irish music with a touch of chamber and music hall music. The concert will be held Friday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 for prime seating, $24 for adults and $15 for students. Big Horn Mountain Polka Club dance @ Elks Lodge

The Big Horn Mountain Polka Club will host a dance on Sunday. From 1-5 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, music will be provided by Rapid Creek. The dance is open to the public and attendees are encouraged to wear green in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. The Elks Lodge is located at 45 W. Brundage St.

First Light Children’s Center will host a community open house on Thursday.

Celebrating their second anniversary, the public is invited to help them “March into Year 3” from 5:30-7 p.m.

Birthday cake will be served as well as samples of the healthy lunches the children at the center receive from Volunteers of America’s Catering for a Cause.

Activities will also include tours of the facility, a staff meet-and-greet and the opportunity to learn more about the Highscope Curriculum taught at the school.

First Light is located at 366 E. Brundage St.

Seventh biennial Big Horn Elementary All-Student Art Show reception @ The Brinton Museum

The Seventh biennial Big Horn Elementary All-Student Art Show at The Brinton Museum will open Thursday.

A reception will be held by the BHE Home and School Association on Thursday from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

All members of the community are invited to this free event.

The show will run through March 30 with no admission charged.

The Blue Dog Blues concert @ Powder River Community Center in Arvada

The Arvada Elementary students will host a concert tomorrow at the Powder River Community Center in Arvada. Commencing at 7 p.m. the students will present “The Blue Dog Blues.” the concert aligns with a “Blue Dog” project they have been working on in art class.
