Seventh biennial Big Horn Elementary All-Student Art Show reception @ The Brinton Museum

The Seventh biennial Big Horn Elementary All-Student Art Show at The Brinton Museum will open Thursday.

A reception will be held by the BHE Home and School Association on Thursday from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

All members of the community are invited to this free event.

The show will run through March 30 with no admission charged.

Sheridan Chapter AARP meeting @ Sheridan Senior Center

Sheridan College Interdisciplinary Art House presentation @ Whitney Atrium of Sheridan College

SHERIDAN — On Saturday, the Sheridan College Interdisciplinary Art House will be presenting a performance involving visual art, theater and music. Inspired by Shel Silverstein’s poem “Reflection,” this innovative show is the culmination of a cooperative workshop between college and high school students and staff. From staff reports SHERIDAN— Sheridan County is launching a county-wide contest to design a new logo that represents the county in a unique and identifying way. Submissions will be accepted through Thursday, Aug. 7. The County Commission will select up to 10 semi-finalists to be presented to the public for voting. Finalists will each receive $50 in Chamber Bucks, and the contest winner will receive $250 in Chamber Bucks.

This month’s presenters include an encaustic artist, a performance artist, a narrative fiction writer, a painter, a photographer and a fiction writer. SHERIDAN— The Sheridan Fulmer Library is featuring two art exhibits in the month of August. In the Inner Circle, local artist Daniel Granger will have his first public exhibit. Granger experiments in several mediums, including ink, fountain pen, pencil drawings, acrylic paint and wax. An artist reception for Granger will be held in the Inner Circle from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday. The library is located at 335 W. Alger St.

Big Sky Dowser’s Convention @ Moose Lodge

BILLINGS— The Big Sky Dowser will meet at its 37th annual convention from Aug. 23-24 at the Moose Lodge in Billings, Mont.

Dowsing is a type of divination employed in attempts to locate ground water, buried metals or ores, gemstones, oil and many other objects and materials without the use of scientific apparatus.

Come to the convention and learn about dowsing and see it demonstrated and learn the technique. The special presenter will be Big Sky Dowser Charter Member Vern Bandy who will demonstrate dowsing rods he personally designed.

Backcountry Horsemen Meeting

The “Scenes in the City” show, sponsored by the City of Sheridan and SAGE, opens Sept. 2 at the SAGE Main Street Gallery, located in the Sheridan Chamber of Commerce at 171 Main St.

Juror Danna Hildebrand, a former Sheridan resident and Sheridan College art instructor, will award a $1000 prize for “Best of Show” at the opening reception Thursday, Sept. 4 from 5-7 p.m.

Artist reception at the library @ Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library

SHERIDAN—The Sheridan Fulmer Library will host an artist reception for Charlotte Mehmke on Wednesday from 4-6 p.m. on the mezzanine. Mehmke’s work is currently displayed in an exhibit titled “Women’s History: Founding Mothers” on the library’s mezzanine. Mehmke has sewn and hand stitched several women’s dresses representing various periods of American history. The dresses range from gowns to simple dresses that would have been worn by female slaves.
