Science Saturday H2O Olympics @ Edward A. Whitney Academic Center atrium of Sheridan College

The Sheridan College Museum of Discovery and Science Kids will host March’s Science Saturday this weekend.

Science Saturday offers free admission to the museum for the entire community. This month the focus is “H2O Olympics” from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday in the Edward A. Whitney Academic Center atrium of Sheridan College.

Water may seem ordinary but it is a building block of life and the program will discuss why.

Sheridan College is located at 3059 Coffeen Ave.

Best of the West BBQ Fest Fat Tuesday fundraiser @ Black Tooth Brewery

The Best of the West BBQ Fest committee will host a Fat Tuesday celebration to kick-off their fundraising season. On Tuesday at 6 p.m. complimentary appetizers and music by the Teka Brock Band will be provided at the Black Tooth Brewery. “Sundae cups” of coleslaw, baked beans and BBQ pork will be sold with all proceeds supporting the Best of the West BBQ Fest competition. 2014 Wild West Wine Fest @ Warehouse 201

The 2014 Wild West Wine Fest is coming March 7 to Warehouse 201. This annual primary fundraiser for the Downtown Sheridan Association will serve heavy hors d’oeuvres throughout the evening and present over 100 wines, beers and spirits to taste. Tickets are available now for $50 per person, which includes food, alcohol tastings, a complimentary tasting glass, a tasting booklet and a bidding number for the auction. Fun at the Museum: St. Patrick’s Day Crafts and History @ community room at the Johnson County Library

The Jim Gatchell Memorial Museum will host “Fun at the Museum: St. Patrick’s Day Crafts and History” on Monday in the community room at the Johnson County Library. “March Gladness” Spring Salad Luncheon @ First United Methodist Church

The United Methodist Women will host the annual Spring Salad Luncheon on Thursday. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church “March Gladness” will serve an all-you-can eat lunch for $7 a person. The proceeds will benefit the UMW mission projects. The church is located at 215 W. Works St.

Empty Bowl Event @ Sheridan County YMCA

The Volunteers of America Northern Rockies will host their annual Empty Bowl Event Thursday. The fundraising event serves attendees a simple dinner emulating what one might eat at a soup kitchen served in a handcrafted bowl and accompanied by music from Canary Joe, a silent auction, face painting for kids and more. Attendees keep their dinner bowls as reminders about homelessness. The event will run from 5-8 p.m. at the Sheridan County YMCA. Tickets are available at the door for $25 per family, $10 for adults, $5 for kids and children under five are free. All proceeds benefit the Sheridan Community Homeless Shelter. Stroke Awareness fundraiser @ Tongue River Middle School cafeteria

A Stroke Awareness fundraiser on behalf of Troy Winder of the Sunset Cafe will be held at Tongue River Middle School on Friday. From 4:30-8:30 p.m. in the cafeteria a soup and chili dinner will be served, a silent auction will be held and basket raffles will be offered. The cost of dinner is a suggested donation of $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 5 and younger. For more information call 751-4526. TRMS is located at 1251 Dayton St., Ranchester.

4-H Carnival @ Sheridan County Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall

The Sheridan County 4-H club will host their annual carnival fundraiser on March 15. From 3-7 p.m. at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall a chili supper, cake walk, dunk tank, duck darts, treasure hunt, and more food and activities will be offered. There is no cost to attend and all optional activities carry individual costs which will benefit the 4-H club. For more information contact the Sheridan County Extension Office at 674-2980. First Light Children’s Center will host a community open house on Thursday.

Celebrating their second anniversary, the public is invited to help them “March into Year 3” from 5:30-7 p.m.

Birthday cake will be served as well as samples of the healthy lunches the children at the center receive from Volunteers of America’s Catering for a Cause.

Activities will also include tours of the facility, a staff meet-and-greet and the opportunity to learn more about the Highscope Curriculum taught at the school.

Seventh biennial Big Horn Elementary All-Student Art Show reception @ The Brinton Museum

The Seventh biennial Big Horn Elementary All-Student Art Show at The Brinton Museum will open Thursday.

A reception will be held by the BHE Home and School Association on Thursday from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

All members of the community are invited to this free event.

The show will run through March 30 with no admission charged.
