Landon’s Greenhouse and Nursery workshops @ Landon’s Greenhouse and Nursery

SHERIDAN — Landon’s Greenhouse and Nursery will host two free public workshops on Saturday.

Beginning at 10 a.m. Wayne Gray will present “Stop and smell the roses” an informative and fast-paced session that will cover the different types of roses, rose planting and care and rose pests and diseases and how to control them.

The second workshop will be presented by Landon’s manager Keith Kershaw at 1 p.m. Kershaw will present “Backyard orchard: All about fruit trees,” an informative workshop discussing how to grow fruit trees in Wyoming.

All workshops are free but space is limited so pre-registration is requested.

Forest service photos reception @ The Inner Circle at Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library

Photographs taken in the Cloud Peak Wilderness area will be on display in The Inner Circle at Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library during the month of March. Local representatives of the US Forest Service will be displaying the photographs as a part of their celebration of the 50th anniversary of the signing of The Wilderness Act. A reception will be held on Monday from 5-7 p.m. to mark the opening. All members of the community are invited to attend this free event. Jentel Presents @ Sagebrush Community Art Center

Jentel Artist Residency Program will host their March “Jentel Presents” on Tuesday. “Jentel Presents” is a free community outreach event open to everyone which features visual presentations and readings by artist in residency. The event will take place from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Sagebrush Community Art Center and refreshments will be served. This month’s presenters include playwright Barbara Lindsay, mixed media artist Laini Nemett, metal smith Lori Swartz and printmaker Junko Yamamoto. Best of the West BBQ Fest Fat Tuesday fundraiser @ Black Tooth Brewery

The Best of the West BBQ Fest committee will host a Fat Tuesday celebration to kick-off their fundraising season. On Tuesday at 6 p.m. complimentary appetizers and music by the Teka Brock Band will be provided at the Black Tooth Brewery. “Sundae cups” of coleslaw, baked beans and BBQ pork will be sold with all proceeds supporting the Best of the West BBQ Fest competition. 2014 Wild West Wine Fest @ Warehouse 201

The 2014 Wild West Wine Fest is coming March 7 to Warehouse 201. This annual primary fundraiser for the Downtown Sheridan Association will serve heavy hors d’oeuvres throughout the evening and present over 100 wines, beers and spirits to taste. Tickets are available now for $50 per person, which includes food, alcohol tastings, a complimentary tasting glass, a tasting booklet and a bidding number for the auction. Writing attention-grabbing resumes class for 50 and older @ Sheridan College Main Street

Sheridan College’s Center for Workforce and Community Education and the American Association of Community Colleges are presenting a series of classes for people age 50 and over.
Classes will be held the second Tuesday of each month starting in September and ending in June.
The class schedule is:
• March 11 — writing attention-grabbing resumes
• April 8 — successful interviews
• May 13 — critical thinking
• June 10 — providing “wow” customer service
All classes are free and will be held from 8-11 a.m. at Sheridan College Main Street, 171 N. Main St. Pre-registration is required.

Tom Randazzo artist’s reception @ Mezzanine of Sheridan Fulmer Public library

A show of original paintings in a variety of media created by local artist Tom Randazzo will be presented on the mezzanine of Sheridan Fulmer Public library. “Balance and texture” will present a wide variety of mixed media including wax and motor oil. An artist’s reception will be held tomorrow from 5-7 p.m. The public is welcome to attend this free event. The library is located at 335 W. Alger St.

“March Gladness” Spring Salad Luncheon @ First United Methodist Church

The United Methodist Women will host the annual Spring Salad Luncheon on Thursday. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church “March Gladness” will serve an all-you-can eat lunch for $7 a person. The proceeds will benefit the UMW mission projects. The church is located at 215 W. Works St.

Empty Bowl Event @ Sheridan County YMCA

The Volunteers of America Northern Rockies will host their annual Empty Bowl Event Thursday. The fundraising event serves attendees a simple dinner emulating what one might eat at a soup kitchen served in a handcrafted bowl and accompanied by music from Canary Joe, a silent auction, face painting for kids and more. Attendees keep their dinner bowls as reminders about homelessness. The event will run from 5-8 p.m. at the Sheridan County YMCA. Tickets are available at the door for $25 per family, $10 for adults, $5 for kids and children under five are free. All proceeds benefit the Sheridan Community Homeless Shelter. “Seven Years Plus” artist’s reception @ SAGE Exhibit Gallery @ Sheridan College Main Street

Throughout the month of March the SAGE Exhibit Gallery will feature life-long Sheridan area resident and colored pencil artist Dean States. “Seven Years Plus” will exhibit his drawings at the gallery located inside Sherian College Main Street. An artist’s reception and gallery talk will be held Thursday from 5:30-7 p.m. The public is welcome to this free event and refreshments will be served. The gallery is located at 171 N. Main St. More of States’ work can be viewed at the Dean States Studio located at 637 W. Loucks St.
