The Sagebrush Community Art Center will host another “Uncorked” workshop on Tuesday. “Sunshine Poppies” will offer music, fun and step-by-step guidance from local artist Sonja Caywood on painting your own 20X16 acrylic sunshine poppy painting. The event is open to all and all supplies are included in the price of admission. Space is limited and pre-registration is requested. Registration costs $5 per adult and $25 for children and can be made by calling the art center at 674-1970. The art center is located inside the Historic Train Depot at 201 E. Fifth St.

Pub Painting

The Wyoming Water Color Association will present “Pub Painting” an Artists in Motion fundraiser. On Friday at 5 p.m. the artists of the association will paint and sell their works inside the corner pub at Fifth Street and Main Street. There is no cost to attend but attendees must be age 21 or older to enter the pub. The WWCA offers classes to educate people on the art and Artists in Motion is a grassroots movement to bring art to the masses. Attendees’ participation is welcome. Landon’s Greenhouse and Nursery workshops @ Landon’s Greenhouse and Nursery

SHERIDAN — Landon’s Greenhouse and Nursery will host two free public workshops on Saturday.

Beginning at 10 a.m. Wayne Gray will present “Stop and smell the roses” an informative and fast-paced session that will cover the different types of roses, rose planting and care and rose pests and diseases and how to control them.

The second workshop will be presented by Landon’s manager Keith Kershaw at 1 p.m. Kershaw will present “Backyard orchard: All about fruit trees,” an informative workshop discussing how to grow fruit trees in Wyoming.

All workshops are free but space is limited so pre-registration is requested.

What’s happening at the Inn @ Designing Dinners

Akcita Win will host a program on Tuesday.

Commencing at 6 p.m. Diana Johnson, volunteer coordinator for the Historic Sheridan Inn will present “What’s happening at the Inn?”

The meeting will be held at Designing Dinners and food may be ordered off the menu but is not required to attend.

All members of the community are welcome to attend. Members of the organization are invited to take part in the secret sister program and secret sister assignments will be made at this meeting.

Steve Johnson presentation @ room 153 of the Whitney Building at Sheridan College

The Sheridan College art department will host visiting artist Steve Johnson Wednesday through Friday. Johnson is an assist professor of drawing at College of Charleston in Charleston, S.C. On Wednesday from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in room 153 of the Whitney Building he will provide a presentation of his work and his creative process. This event is free and open to the public. On Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. he will spend the day working on unfinished drawings in the art wing hallway. Interested students and members of the public are encouraged to observe the evolution of his work throughout the day. On Friday from 12:30-4:30 p.m. he will conduct an experimental drawing workshop. More examples of his work will be exhibited in the fine arts wing gallery starting tomorrow and remaining through March 15. Writing attention-grabbing resumes class for 50 and older @ Sheridan College Main Street

Sheridan College’s Center for Workforce and Community Education and the American Association of Community Colleges are presenting a series of classes for people age 50 and over.
Classes will be held the second Tuesday of each month starting in September and ending in June.
The class schedule is:
• March 11 — writing attention-grabbing resumes
• April 8 — successful interviews
• May 13 — critical thinking
• June 10 — providing “wow” customer service
All classes are free and will be held from 8-11 a.m. at Sheridan College Main Street, 171 N. Main St. Pre-registration is required.

Conversation in History @ Senior Center conference room

The Sheridan Senior Center will host Helen Laumann of the Sheridan County Historical Society for the next “Conversation in History” on Wednesday. This series of casual conversations surrounding specific portions of our Sheridan area history is free and open to the public. Charlie Craven fly tying demo @ Best Western

The local chapter of Trout Unlimited will host guest author, fly designer and fly tyer Charlie Craven on Thursday. At 6 p.m. at the Best Western, Cravens, a world renowned tyer from Boulder, Colo., will offer a demonstration of his fly tying techniques. The event is free and open to all but donations will be accepted to help defray the cost of the guest fisherman. For more information call the Fly Shop of the Bighorns at 672-5866.
