AARP meeting @ Sheridan Senior Center

The Sheridan chapter of AARP will host a meeting Friday. The program will include a potluck, a summary of the Soup-er Bowl Food Drive, a proposal of a new summer outreach activity to be organized by the chapter and bingo. The event is free and open to everyone. Attendees are asked to bring their own place settings and a covered dish to share, and the chapter will provide fried chicken. The meeting will commence at 5:30 p.m. at the Sheridan Senior Center. For more information contact Helen Mitchell at mitchell006@bresnan.net. The senior center is located at 211 Smith St.

Pheasants Forever Banquet and Auction @ Sheridan County Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall

SHERIDAN — The annual Pheasants Forever Banquet and Auction will be held Feb. 22.

The fundraising buffet banquet benefits the Sheridan/Johnson County chapter of Pheasants Forever and will be held at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall from 5:30-10 p.m.

Tickets are $60 each or $90 per couple and purchases include a membership in the organization.

Raffle tickets for a Can-Am 500 four-wheeler and a raffle for 10 special guns will be sold separately for $20 each.

Raffle tickets and banquet tickets are available now at Parker Glass, located at 125 W. Brundage St., and Sheridan Stationery located at 206 N. Main St.

Big Horn Historical Society potluck and program @ Big Horn Woman’s Club clubhouse

The Big Horn Historical Society will host a potluck and program Sunday. The free meeting is open to all members of the community. The potluck will begin at 1 p.m. at the Big Horn Woman’s Club clubhouse. Attendees are asked to bring a dish to share. At 1:50 p.m. Helen Laumann will present a program on the CCC Camp and guests can arrive at this time if they choose not to participate in the potluck. The clubhouse is located at 314 S. Second St., Big Horn.

Thankful Thursday benefitting Sheridan Foster Parents Exchange @ Warehouse 201

SHERIDAN — Warehouse 201 will host the next Thankful Thursday event on Thursday.

From 5:30-8 p.m. Sheridan Foster Parents Exchange will be honored with the fundraiser.

Admission is free, a silent and live auction will be held, live music will be played by Terry Garrison and all proceeds will benefit the organization.

Tickets will be sold at the door for $25 and will offer 10 percent off purchases made throughout the evening, a $250 cash give-away, door prizes and other surprises.

Sheridan College Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble concerts @ Big Horn High School auditorium

The Sheridan College Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble will perform their third of four concerts this year on Sunday. Directed by Dr. Michal P. Flynn, the theme of the concert will be “Music from the James Bond franchise.” The concerts will be held at the Big Horn High School auditorium. Admission is free and the public is encouraged to attend. Dr. Flynn will be discussing the works to be presented prior to the performance. The discussion will commence at 6 p.m. and the concert at 7 p.m. Clips from the James Bond films will play while the wind ensemble performs and guest artists Tawni Shuler and Hannah Gilbert will create live art during the performance of “Le Champ de Bataille,” a piece written by Sheridan College faculty member Dr. Chris Erickson. Best of the West BBQ Fest Fat Tuesday fundraiser @ Black Tooth Brewery

The Best of the West BBQ Fest committee will host a Fat Tuesday celebration to kick-off their fundraising season. On Tuesday at 6 p.m. complimentary appetizers and music by the Teka Brock Band will be provided at the Black Tooth Brewery. “Sundae cups” of coleslaw, baked beans and BBQ pork will be sold with all proceeds supporting the Best of the West BBQ Fest competition. Wyoming Archaeological Society meeting @ Le Gourmet Room of Holiday Inn

The Sheridan-Johnson County chapter of the Wyoming Archaeological Society will meet Thursday in the Le Gourmet Room of Holiday Inn. All members of the community are invited to this free event. At 6:00 p.m. attendees may order dinner off the menu, but no purchase is required to attend. Following dinner at approximately 7:15 p.m. Forest Service archaeologist Bill Matthews will present an update on his fieldwork in the Big Horn Mountains over the past three years. Attendees not desiring dinner may arrive at this time. Matthews and a group of volunteers recorded over 30 prehistoric sites as well as a turn of the century mining district, specifically in the Cloud Peak Wilderness. 2014 Wild West Wine Fest @ Warehouse 201

The 2014 Wild West Wine Fest is coming March 7 to Warehouse 201. This annual primary fundraiser for the Downtown Sheridan Association will serve heavy hors d’oeuvres throughout the evening and present over 100 wines, beers and spirits to taste. Tickets are available now for $50 per person, which includes food, alcohol tastings, a complimentary tasting glass, a tasting booklet and a bidding number for the auction. Parent Partnership meeting @ Sheridan High School library

The Parent Partnership will meet next Monday at Sheridan High School. On March 10 at 6 p.m. topics will include teacher appreciation in May, expanding the adoption of technology, the Graduation Task Force Executive Summary and an overview of “where we’ve been, where we are and where we are going,” at SHS. Sheridan High School Jazz Band concert @ Sue Henry Auditorium at Sheridan High School

The Sheridan High School Jazz Band will perform their Festival Concert on Tuesday. The band will be playing songs which they will be performing at the Kinser Jazz Festival in Casper and the Northwest Jazz Festival in Powell later this year. The performance will commence at 7 p.m. at the Sue Henry Auditorium of SHS. The concert is free and open to the public. Performances will include pieces such as “Solar and Nardis” by Miles Davis and “I’m Beginning to See the Light” by Duke Ellington, and will be directed by Diane Knutson. Lead trombone player Grandy Craft has been selected to play in the All-State Jazz Band and will be featured on a solo arrangement at the concert. For more information call the school at 672-2495.
