“Back to the Drawing Board” artist’s reception @ Martinsen Gallery at Sheridan College

A new art exhibit, “Back to the Drawing Board” by Christie American Horse, will open at the Martinsen Gallery on Tuesday, commencing with an artist’s reception. On Tuesday from 4-5 p.m. the public is invited to the free reception at Sheridan College. American Horse, who was born cross-eyed but overcame the condition, has worked in many mediums including oils, pastels, acrylics, watercolors, charcoal and graphite. The exhibit will focus on her drawings, which she states is her favorite part of the painting process. She is the daughter of fellow local artist Fred Goehring and a graduate of Northwest Nazarene University in Idaho. The exhibit will run through April 8. The gallery is located in the Whitney building of SC located at 3059 Coffeen Ave.

Live from The Met: Borodin’s ‘Prince Igor’ @ WYO Theater

SHERIDAN — The WYO Theater will present “Live from The Met: Borodin’s ‘Prince Igor’” on Saturday at 10 a.m.

The performance is part of the series “The Metropolitan Opera: Live in High-Definition” which transmits opera performances to movie theaters and other venues around the world as part of The Metropolitan Opera’s efforts to reinvigorate opera and reach out to a broader public.

The program allows audiences to experience the production at the same time as the audience in New York.

“Prince Igor” is a Russian epic famous for its Polovtsian dances and hasn’t been to the Met in nearly 100 years. Star bass-baritone Ildar Abdrazakov takes on the title role with Gianandrea Noseda conducting.

Tickets are $18 for adults and $9 for students. Tickets may be purchased online at www.wyotheater.com, on the phone at 672-9084 extension 100 or in person at the box office, which is located inside the theater at 42 N. Main St.

Forest service photos reception @ The Inner Circle at Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library

Photographs taken in the Cloud Peak Wilderness area will be on display in The Inner Circle at Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library during the month of March. Local representatives of the US Forest Service will be displaying the photographs as a part of their celebration of the 50th anniversary of the signing of The Wilderness Act. A reception will be held on Monday from 5-7 p.m. to mark the opening. All members of the community are invited to attend this free event. Jentel Presents @ Sagebrush Community Art Center

Jentel Artist Residency Program will host their March “Jentel Presents” on Tuesday. “Jentel Presents” is a free community outreach event open to everyone which features visual presentations and readings by artist in residency. The event will take place from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Sagebrush Community Art Center and refreshments will be served. This month’s presenters include playwright Barbara Lindsay, mixed media artist Laini Nemett, metal smith Lori Swartz and printmaker Junko Yamamoto. A Dinner Theater Event: Tangled @ Tongue River High School auditorium

The Tongue River High School theater department will present “A Dinner Theater Event: Tangled” tonight.

“Tangled,” the Disney story staring Rapunzel, will be adapted and performed by TRHS students in the school auditorium.

The play will be presented for free to the entire community at 7 p.m.

Prior to the performance a fundraiser spaghetti dinner will be served.

Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. and cots $15 per plate or $40 per family.

Tickets can be bought from the TRHS front office and dinner reservations can be made by calling 655-2236.

The school is located at 1150 Main St., Dayton.

Grease @ Sue Henry Theater for the Performing Arts at Sheridan High School

Sheridan High School students will present their spring musical, “Grease,” Wednesday through March 9. One of the most popular musicals of all time, the show will feature songs like “Summer Nights,” “Greased Lightning,” and “Beauty School Dropout complete with hand jives. The students, directed by Marva Craft, will offer five performances. Wednesday through March 8 performances will commence at 7:30 p.m. and March 9 will offer a matinee at 2 p.m. All performances will take place at the Sue Henry Theater for the Performing Arts at Sheridan SHS. Tickets are $7 in advance and $8 at the door. Tickets are available now at the SHS office. SHS is located at 1056 Long Dr.

EPA/HUD Renovation, Repair and Painting Initial Training @ Holiday Inn

The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services with the Low-Income Weatherization Program and the Montana State University Extension Housing Program, is sponsoring an event to be held in Sheridan on Thursday.

“EPA/HUD Renovation, Repair and Painting Initial Training” will be held at the Holiday Inn from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The eight hour course developed by the United States Environmental Protection Agency in collaboration with the US Department of Housing and Urban Development will train attendees how to work safely in housing with lead-based paint and comply with EPA’s RRP rule, and HUD’s Lead Safe Home rule.

Attendees will be given a Certified Renovators photo ID which is valid for five years.

The course hold a value of $200 but is being offered in Sheridan for free thanks to the presenting sponsors.

Pre-registration is required and space is limited.
