WWA raffle off cabin getaway @ Luminous Brewhouse
Apr 25 all-day

SHERIDAN — The Wyoming Wilderness Association is raffling off a weekend getaway at a cabin in the Bighorn Mountains.

The Muddy Guard cabin will be available to the winner of the raffle Aug. 3-5. It sleeps up to six people.

Raffle tickets are $10 apiece or three for $25. 

The winner of the raffle will be announced at the Banff Mountain Film Festival after-party at Luminous Brewhouse on April 25.

Backcountry horsemen to gather Wed. @ ERA Carroll Realty office

Miner’s picnic meeting set for Wed. @ Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library

SHERIDAN — A planning meeting for a summer picnic will take place Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library.

The picnic, geared toward the descendants of workers in the mining communities north of Sheridan that flourished in the first half of the 20th century, will take place July 30.

The first revival of the picnic took place in 2016.

Calmus to perform at SC @ Sheridan Collegeq

SHERIDAN — The Whitney Center for the Arts at Sheridan College will present the Calmus Vocal Ensemble on April 26 at 7:30 p.m.

This renowned a cappella quintet presents “All the World’s a Stage,” a program of music inspired by the plays and poetry of the immortal bard, William Shakespeare. You will hear songs — all in English — by composers from all over the world ranging across five centuries to commemorate the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s death that should please literary and music enthusiasts alike.

Excerpts from “Twelfth Night,” “Cymbeline,” “Othello” and “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” will be interspersed with settings of the sonnets. The concert will conclude with four distinct versions of the poem “Full Fathom Five” from “The Tempest.”

Composers covered will include 16th century Englishmen Orlando Gibbons and Henry Purcell to contemporary artists like Ralph Vaughan Williams, John Tavener, Nancy Wertsch, Jaakko Mäntyjärvi and others.

The Calmus Ensemble’s five performers are from the renowned St. Thomas Church Choir School and combine a pure female soprano voice with four male voices ranging from bass to countertenor.

Tickets cost $20 for adults and $15 for students. They are available through the WYO Theater or at the door. Information on this concert and all other Whitney Center for the Arts events can be found at www.whitneyarts.org.

VOA fundraiser includes ‘Soup-er Heroes’ theme @ Sheridan County Fairgrounds

SHERIDAN — Volunteers of America Northern Rockies will host its annual Filling an Empty Bowl fundraiser April 27.

The event, set to take place from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds, will benefit the local homeless shelter.

The simple meal is meant to mirror a meal one might have in the shelter.

The cost is $25 per family, $10 for adults and $5 for children. Children 5 and younger eat for free.

Tickets are available at the door.

Lions Club organizes concert @ Best Western Sheridan Center

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan Lions Club has organized a fundraising concert for April 30 at 7 p.m.

The concert will feature the band Yesterdayze, a band that features music from the ‘60s.

Museum to host gala with former governors @ Sheridan Holiday Inn.
May 13 @ 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan County Historical Society and Museum has started selling tickets for its annual gala fundraiser. 

The fundraiser, “A View From the Governor’s Mansion,” will take place May 13 at the Sheridan Holiday Inn. 

The program for the evening will feature three former Wyoming governors — Michael Sullivan, James Geringer and David Freduenthal.

The trio will share a little history and their perspective as Wyoming’s chief executive. 

Tickets for the gala are $75 per person and will go on sale March 1 through the WYO Theater box office and the Sheridan County Historical Society and Museum mercantile gift shop.

The gala will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a cash bar and silent auction. Dinner will follow at 6:30 p.m.

After dinner will be the program by the former governors. All of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Sheridan County Historical Society and Museum.
