Bank of the West organizes charity drive @ Bank of the West,
Dec 7 – Dec 30 all-day

SHERIDAN — The Bank of the West will gather coats, gloves and hats to benefit the Sheridan Foster Parent Exchange through Dec. 30. 

Items may be dropped off at the Bank of the West, located at 2 N. Main St. 

Items welcome in the drop-offs include gently used winter wear like coats, hats and gloves.

SHS orchestra to perform Wednesday @ Sheridan High School
Dec 7 @ 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan High School symphony and baroque orchestras will present a combined concert on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Sue Henry Auditorium at Sheridan High School.

The Baroque Orchestra will perform Concerto Grosso Opus 6 No. 7 by Handel and Folk Song by Mendelssohn.

The Symphony Orchestra will perform Praelude from “Holberg” suite by Greig, Elgie from Serenade for Strings by Tschaikowsky and “White Christmas” by Irving Berlin. 

Sidney Carroll will be the featured soloist with the chamber orchestra playing Dragoneti String Bass Concerto in G Major.

Sheridan High School is located at 1056 Long Drive.

TRHS to host piano concert @ Tongue River High School
Dec 8 @ 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm

DAYTON — Tongue River High School students will show off their piano skills with a concert Thursday at 5 p.m. 

Lizzy Martin and Hannah Johnston will host the Christmas event at the school for Family Career and Community Leaders of America.

The event will feature music and treats.

Tongue River High School is located at 1150 Main St. in Dayton.

Local AARP to gather Friday @ Heritage Towers
Dec 9 @ 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan chapter of the AARP will meet Friday at 5:30 p.m. in the Heritage Towers dining room.

The event will include a potluck dinner and musical program from “Just Harmony.”

Heritage Towers is located at 428 N. Jefferson St.

Sheridan College to present ‘Handel’s Messiah’ @ Whitney Center for the Arts
Dec 9 @ 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan College symphony orchestra and festival chorus will present “Handel’s Messiah” on Dec. 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Whitney Center for the Arts.

Tickets for the performance are available through the WYO Theater box office, though a waiting list has been started.

CHAPS to host ‘Ugly Sweater’ 5K run @ Thorne-Rider Park
Dec 10 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

SHERIDAN — Children, Horses and Adults in Partnership, or CHAPS, will host an ugly Christmas outfit 5K run on Dec. 10 at noon at Thorne-Rider Park.

Proceeds raised will benefit CHAPS Equine Assisted Therapy in Sheridan. The run will begin at Thorne-Rider park and take place eon the Sheridan running trail system.

The cost to participate is $30 for those who pre-register and $40 if you sign up the day of the race.

Number of school holiday concerts set for Dec. 13
Dec 13 all-day

SHERIDAN — ‘Tis the season for children’s holiday performances. Here is a list of concerts planned for Dec. 13 at local schools.

• Woodland Park Elementary, 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

• Meadowlark Elementary, 6 p.m. at the Sheridan Junior High School auditorium

• Tongue River High School band, time not immediately available

• Tongue River Middle School band concert, 6 p.m.
