Unplug @ The Ucross Foundation

UCROSS — Participants in Unplug will take a trip to the Ucross Foundation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

Those planning to attend should bring the family, pack a picnic and head to Ucross for the fall exhibition of “The Universal Language of Birds” by Christina Beal. Beal is a young artist who has a keen interest in nature and birds.

The Ucross staff will open the gallery for the group.

Unplug is a partnership between the Sheridan Community Land Trust and Science Kids.

SHERIDAN — The Koltiska Pumpkin Patch will open for the season Sept. 16 at noon. The patch will be open the following day from noon to 6 p.m. 

Then, the pumpkin patch will be open normal hours of Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 3-6 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m. until the end of season, which is scheduled to be Oct. 8. 

Prices for pumpkins are $7 for the first pumpkin for each person in the group. Additional pumpkins may be discounted based on the pumpkin at our discretion. The Koltiskas ask that those who visit leave pets at home, as there are plenty of animals to view at the family’s property. 

The pumpkin patch workers will offer complimentary refreshments and cookies, and will have other vegetables as available.

Oktoberfest @ Black Tooth Brewing Company

SHERIDAN — The Black Tooth Brewing Company has organized an Oktoberfest celebration for Saturday starting at noon.

The event will include live Bavarian festival music starting at 3 p.m. Legerski brats and freshly made pretzels from Pie in the Sky will be available for purchase. 

Those planning to attend are encouraged to wear their dirndl and lederhosen.

SHERIDAN — Safe Kids Sheridan County has organized a seat check for Saturday at the hospital.

Those wishing to have their child safety car seats checked should stop by the parking lot of the hospital between 3-6 p.m. Organizers said attendees will learn to ensure their children are strapped in safely and learn about what a tether is and why it’s important.

Seats will also be available at a low cost for those who qualify.

Portable Masterpieces @ The WYO Theater

SHERIDAN — Before the Internet and television, there was radio. Before radio was Vaudeville. The small orchestras of radio shows and vaudeville stages performed music from the golden days of steamer trunks, wicker chairs, potted palms and all-night soirees. 

A program at the WYO Theater will pay homage to those past forms of performance Saturday at 7:30 p.m. with the presentation of “Portable Masterpieces” by Trinkle Brass Works. 

The event will include an evening of ragtime, light classical and snappy radio tunes.

Tickets to the show cost $5.50 to $14.50 and are available through the WYO Theater box office, by phone at 672-9084 or online at wyotheater.com.
