Miniature Art Auction

SHERIDAN — The Wyoming Wilderness Association invites members of the public to its 12th annual Miniature Art Auction: Celebrating our Wild Earth.

Miniature artworks donated by talented local artists will be open for viewing and bidding April 23 through May 31 in the nonprofit’s office at 44 S. Main St.

A day for final bids, refreshments and a chance to meet WWA’s new executive director will be May 31 from 5-7 p.m.

Proceeds from the auction support Wyoming Wilderness Association’s priority campaigns in the Red Desert, Bridger-Teton, Shoshone and Bighorn National Forests, as well as the nonprofit’s work actively opposing the public lands transfer movement in order to keep public lands in public hands.

‘Interacting with Art’ @ Expressions Art Gallery

SHERIDAN — Expressions Art Gallery will host an “Interacting with Art” series throughout the month of May. 

The next event will take place Thursday. From 10 a.m. to noon, Edre Maier will work on her watercolor projects in the gallery. From noon to 2 p.m., Pam Bridger will set up her watercolor projects and work.

The gallery is free and open to the public from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

SHERIDAN — Families and friends will flock to Sheridan County over the Memorial Day weekend to enjoy more than the scenery. Local high schools will celebrate graduation, too.

Here’s a list of local graduation ceremonies:

• May 26 — John C. Schiffer Collaborative School, 1 p.m. at the Whitney Center for the Arts at Sheridan College

• May 27 — Sheridan High School, 1 p.m., Homer Scott Field weather permitting

• May 27 — Arvada-Clearmont High School, 2 p.m. at the school

• May 27 — Big Horn High School, 3 p.m. at the school

• May 27 — Tongue River High School, 6 p.m. at the school

Annual fly-in @ Sand Turn

DAYTON — The annual Hang Gliders Fly-in will take place in the Bighorn Mountains over the Memorial Day weekend.

Beginning Saturday, area visitors and residents are invited to watch and photograph hang gliders as they soar above the Bighorn Mountains and Dayton area, launching from Sand Turn in the mountains.

Coffee program @ The Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library will host a coffee program Saturday at 10 a.m.

Join Matt Egging of Manchester St. Coffee, who will lead an informational presentation on coffee roasting. Attendees will learn what dark, medium and light roasts mean, where to purchase green coffee beans and how to roast at home.

The event is free and open to the public.

The Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library is located at 335 W. Alger St.

Third Tuesday training sessions @ Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce office

SHERIDAN — Peak Consulting will offer a series of training sessions on the third Tuesday of each month through June.

The sessions will cover a variety of topics to help local businesses.

Each workshop will take place at the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce office, located at 171 N. Main St. The cost is $79 per session.
