SHERIDAN — The Sheridan High School Broncs soccer team put in one goal against Cheyenne East Friday, and that was enough to win the game. Coach Kevin Rizer said he felt his team dominated the game by denying East from obtaining quality shots at the goal.
The SHS winning kick was assisted by Nick Gill and delivered by Colter Carzoli in the 65th minute of the game.
“I think we out-shot them 12 to four,” Rizer said. “We played pretty well. We played tough and continued to get better.
“We’ve worked on a lot of things in practice this week, and I saw glimpses of all those things today,” he added.
Friday’s victory is the second shut-out game in a row for SHS goalie Zach Campbell.
Today, the team takes on the Gillette Camels at noon. The Camels lost to Cheyenne Central Friday 1-0, and Rizer said the match with SHS is a sesson first.
“We haven’t seen Central yet this year,” he said. “We’ll have to see what their game is and make adjustments.”
Despite facing unknown elements, Rizer was optimistic going into today’s game.
“I think we’re one of the best teams in the state,” he said. “We’re at a stage ni the season where we continue to talk about what we need to do to get better as a squad. We’re talking about playing extremely high pressure defense, having solid possession and getting chances at the goal.”
