SHERIDAN — After three weeks of practice, the Broncs finally meet an opponent.

Head coach Don Julian knows his guys are ready for live action as they head to Laramie Friday.

“We’re really excited to get into game week, when you start getting toward that last several days of two-a-day practices, there’s a tendency to get stagnant,” he said. “We’re excited to come into gameday with a fresh focus.

“We came a long way with the two-a-days.”

For “Zero Week,” the Broncs face a still re-building Laramie squad that is in its second-straight year with a new head coach. The Plainsmen finished 1-8 in 2012.

Last year in Sheridan, fans who braved the snowy night saw the Broncs come out on top, 49-6, in a whiteout at Homer Scott Field.

Sheridan will host Kelly Walsh next week — a team that has many expecting a breakout season — but first, they’ll use this week as an introduction for a wide array of inexperienced players — at quarterback, offensive line and plenty more on defense.

“The best thing about this week is that we’ll get in a situation where we get ourselves on film,” Julian said. “There will be a lot of improvement that comes after this Friday.”

The Broncs and the Plainsmen meet at 6 p.m.
