Bronc golfers shoot their lowest score of the season

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan High School boys golf team shot their lowest team score this season, winning the Powell tournament Friday with a score of 329.

Gillette came in second with 343, Riverton third with 345, Lander fourth with 351 and Cody finished fifth with 372.

Jack Mavrakis of Sheridan took home a second place individual finish with a score of 75. Sheridan’s freshman Logan Johnson shot a personal best of 80, securing fourth. Bailey Bonnet helped the team with a shot of 85, Alex Williams contributed 89 and Brock Grandsberry finished in 104.

The girls team finished second overall after breaking 300.

“This was the first time for a long time the girls were able to break a 300,” said head coach Larry Martoglio.

Team finishes were close throughout the tournament, three teams were separated by only one point each.

Buffalo won the tournament with a team score of 297, Sheridan placed second shooting a collective 298 and Worland finished third with a 299.

Gillette and Lander kept fourth- and fifth- place close as well, shooting 303 and 305 respectively.

Madison Farr from Sheridan finished sixth for the girls with a shot of 97 and Kayla Allen placed eighth, scoring 99.

Other Lady Broncs competitors included Katie Beardslee, who placed eleventh with a 102 shot, and Schylar Wallace with 106.

“Just overall I am very proud of the boys and girls,” Martoglio said. “There were some individual best scores and played very well tonight.”
