Board of Adjustments OKs variance

SHERIDAN — The city of Sheridan Board of Adjustments met briefly Thursday to discuss a variance request for property located at 403 S. Main St. The variance was approved unanimously.

The property consists of two apartment buildings on the southeast corner of Main Street and Perkins Street. Contractors are making the buildings more stable, board member Dixie See said. They tore off parts of the two buildings that weren’t stable and are rebuilding in the same location.

“We had some discussion, but really and truthfully, the existing building there is sitting that close anyway. It’s not something that is new; they are not moving anything,” See said.

The request was to allow a 2.9-foot yard setback from East Perkins Street instead of the required 15-foot setback and to allow a 1.6-foot side yard setback along the alley instead of the required 5-foot setback. The property is zoned R-3 Residential.
