SHERIDAN — Big Horn High School’s Bailey Bard took state in the 2A division 300-meter hurdles with a time of 46.11 at the State Track and Field Championships in Casper this weekend.

Bard broke the Big Horn High School record in the event. She also placed second in the 200-meter run at the meet.

The Big Horn girls relay team also walked away crowned as state champions in the 4×100 while breaking the Big Horn High School record with a time of 51.59. On the team was Cassidy Enloe, Ashley Fox, Morgan Nance and Bailey Bard.

Big Horn Ram Mason Lube finished eighth in the shot put.

Lube’s teammate Charlie Ringley placed eighth in the 100-meter run and fifth in the 200-meter run.

“Even though we did not have many boys at state, I am very proud of the way they competed,” Big Horn track coach Kirk McLaughlin said. “The girls had an outstanding state meet, placing second overall as a team. They overcame a 14-point deficit with two events left to beat Pine Bluffs and take home the State runner-up trophy.”

Emily Blaney finished fifth in the triple jump. Nance finished seventh and Enloe finished eighth in the same event.

Lydia Mayer landed a sixth place finish in the high jump.

Jadyn Mirich finished fifth in the 100-meter hurdles and second in the high jump with her record-breaking jump of 4 feet, 10 inches.

Fox finished third in the 400 and fifth in the 200. Her 400-meter time of 1:00.41.

The girls 4×400 relay team finished third with a time of 4:12.28, breaking the school record. The team included Bard, Enloe, Mirich and Fox.

“I was extremely proud of the way the girls competed at state,” McLaughlin said. “It was a great achievement for these girls to accomplish a second place team finish with all the competition they faced throughout the weekend.”

The track and field team broke five school records this year: Mirich for the high jump, Fox for the 400-meter run, Bard for the 200-meter run and 300-meter hurdles and the girls 4×100 relay team.
