SHERIDAN — The Wyoming Department of Transportation will host a groundbreaking ceremony for the North Sheridan Interchange on Monday at 2 p.m.
The public is welcome to the ceremony that will kick off the project. Several elected officials, including Wyoming Gov. Matt Mead, will speak at the event.
The groundbreaking will take place at the North Sheridan Interchange on Yellowtail Drive across from Vacutech.
The seed saving workshop is free and open to the public.
SHERIDAN — The Sheridan County Public Library System will offer its annual fall book discussion series beginning in August.
The program at Sheridan Fulmer Library, “Immigration: On Becoming an American,” will feature books about the immigrant experience.
The discussion group meets at noon in the Fulmer Library Inner Circle and the program is free and open to the public. Because the discussions will be held over the lunch hour, a light lunch will be provided for participants. Katie Curtiss will lead the sessions.
Book discussions will also be offered this fall at the Story and Tongue River branch libraries. The theme at the branch libraries will be “Nature, Animals and People: Interacting.”
Both discussions will be led by Norleen Healy.
The Story Branch Library group will meet at 6:30 p.m. and the Tongue River Branch Library group will meet at 4:30 p.m.
Books are available now for checkout at the front desk of each participating library.

SHERIDAN — Elite Rodeo Athletes, League of Rodeo Champions will make the 11th stop on its national tour in Sheridan on Sept. 3 over Labor Day Weekend for the very first Cowboy State Elite Rodeo at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds.
Tickets start at $24 and are available at the WYO Theater in downtown Sheridan and at ExtremeTix.com.
The ERA Premier Tour will make stops in eight cities, with 15 performances this summer. The inaugural tour features 87 of the top rodeo athletes in the world, representing more than 135 world titles collectively. The Sheridan County Fairgrounds will host events including bull riding, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, tie-down roping, team roping and barrel racing.
ERA was created for the fans, founded by the top pro rodeo athletes from across the globe — and the Cowboy State Elite Rodeo will put the state’s local athletes center stage.
The one-night payout is projected to exceed $200,000.
Saturday’s rodeo performances at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds will begin at 4 p.m.; a pre-show meet and greet will begin at 2:30 p.m. All ERA Premier Tour athletes will be on hand to sign autographs and spend one-on-one time with their fans.
Athletes include 23-time World Champion Cowboy Trevor Brazile; 11-time World Champion Barrel Racer Charmayne James; five-time World Champion Steer Wrestler Luke Branquinho; three-time World Champion Tie-Down Roper Tuf Cooper; eight-time World Champion Tie-Down Roper Fred Whitfield and World Champion Barrel Racer Fallon Taylor.

SHERIDAN — Registration is now open for the Wyoming Conference for Violence Prevention and Response.
Cost to attend is $75 and the event will be held in Casper from Sept. 12-15 at the Ramkota Hotel.
The conference is a two-day event that provides training, dialogue and connections to prevent and respond to violence.
