‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ month at the library @ Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library is celebrating the 50th anniversary of Roald Dahl’s “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” throughout the month of October. There will be golden tickets hidden in library books. Those who find the tickets will receive a free Wonka chocolate bar. The library will also celebrate with Wonka Wednesdays and Fizzy Lifting Fridays.

On Wednesday, the library is having a free movie night at 6:30 p.m. with popcorn.

On Oct. 22, the library will host a book discussion in the Inner Circle at 6:30 p.m. Children’s librarian Michelle Havenga will discuss “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and its impact on generations of children.

A second movie night with popcorn is scheduled for Oct. 29 at 6:30 p.m. The Story, Tongue River and Clearmont branches will also participate in Wonka-related events throughout the month. For more information call Christina Schmidt at 674-8585, ext. 29.

Story chili cook-off and Fall fest

STORY— Story is having their second annual chili cook-off Thursday as part of their Fall Festival at the Story School. The Fall Festival is from 5-7 p.m. and features the chili cook-off, family photos, cake walk and tons of activities and games.

Pet-O-Ween

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan Dog and Cat Shelter has scheduled the 14th annual Pet-O-Ween Contest for Saturday at Kendrick Park.

Registration for the two-part event begins at 10 a.m. A pet-owner walk/run will start at 11 a.m. and cost to participate in the race is $5 per person. The first 50 entries will receive a free pet first-aid kit.

The costume contest will begin at noon and entry fees for that competition are also $5 per pet. Categories for the contest include best pet-owner costume, best dog costume, best cat costume and most unique costume.
A bucket raffle will also be featured.

Proceeds for the event will benefit the Sheridan Dog and Cat Shelter.

The event will also feature lunch by Killy’s Smokehouse Deli and soda will be provided by Coca Cola of Sheridan.

Big Horn Mountain Eagles Halloween party

TRVCC to host fall carnival @ Tongue River Valley Community Center - Dayton

Big Horn High School choir concert @ Big Horn High School auditorium

BIG HORN — The Big Horn High School choir will present a fall concert on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the BHHS auditorium.

Choir selections will include “A Tribute To the Armed Forces,” arranged by Lloyd Larson, “Ashokan Farewell,” arranged by Carole Stephens, “It Don’t Mean A Thing If It Ain’t Got That Sing, Sing, Sing,” arranged by Tom Anderson, “Home,” arranged by Greg Gilpin, and “One Day More,” arranged by Mark Brymer.

As an added feature, a sneak peak of the BHHS Drama Club production will be included in the concert. The cast will present one scene of the play “Just A Little Crazy” by Renee Rebman. The full production of the play is set for 7 p.m. on Nov. 13-14 in the BHHS auditorium.

SMH employee, volunteer bazaar @ Sheridan Memorial Hosptial

SHERIDAN — Sheridan Memorial Hospital employees and volunteers will feature homemade items at the annual Christmas craft bazaar Thursday.

The event will run from 4:30-7 p.m. in the conference rooms on the lower level of the hospital.

The public is invited to shop, and drawings will be held at 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. You must be present to win.

BIG HORN — The students of Big Horn High School will present “Just a Little Crazy,” their fall play, on Thursday and Friday.

At 7 p.m. daily the students will perform the tale of a girl and her parents who are in a big tizzy because they just moved into a turn of the century house, they are trying to remodel and the husband’s wacky sister comes to live with them. Misunderstandings, mixed feelings and hilarity ensue.

The play stars Kendall Meich, Trinity St. John, Joely Mueller, Karsyn Ulivarri, Colter Stanley and Makayla Morris and is directed by Monty and Carol Webb.

Tickets for adults are $2, students are $1 and BHHS students and children under 10 are free.

The performance will be held at the Big Horn Schools’ auditorium, located in the high school at 333 Highway 335, Big Horn.

The “Closet” will be open and booths of baked goods, crafts, oldies and goodies as well as a children’s shopping room will be included in the bazaar.

SHERIDAN — This weekend’s edition of Science Saturday on March 7 will focus on “Mysteries of Invisible Life.”

The event, sponsored by the Sheridan College Museum of Discovery and Science Kids, will run from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 7, at the Sheridan College Science Center.

Attendees will have the chance to explore minute and miniscule living organisms and discover how the microscopic can have humongous impacts on our health and environment.

Science Saturdays are free and open to children of all ages.

SHERIDAN — The Food Group Tacofest and Family Fun event will be held Saturday, March 7, at 5:30 p.m. at Sheridan College.

The fundraiser will benefit children in Sheridan County who would otherwise go hungry over the weekends.

A taco dinner will be provided by Taco John’s and activities for the whole family will be featured.

The free event will be held in the atrium of the Edward A. Whitney Academic Center.

The program, “Tween Challenge Takeover,” will include activities and experiments that will draw from the fields of science, technology, engineering, art, mathematics and the “maker-space” movement.

The programs will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-5 p.m. and are meant for kids in fifth through seventh grades.

The following is the schedule of activities planned through April.

SHERIDAN — The staff of the Sheridan County Museum has invited the public to get a special look behind the scenes at the museum Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Attendees will get a peek at upcoming exhibits and programs when they drop by anytime during the four-hour period.

A Tidbit Saturday program will also be held at 10 a.m. for younger visitors.

The events are free and open to the public, but advance reservations are requested for those planning to participate in the Tidbit program.
