Library to feature multiple exhibits @ Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library

SHERIDAN — Sheridan Fulmer Library will feature two art exhibits in the month of August.

A public artist reception will be held on the mezzanine on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. for local artist Daniel Granger whose work will include a mixture of photographs, paintings, drawings and wood sculptures on display on the mezzanine.

Wyoming State Museum’s traveling exhibit “Those Holes into the Earth: Centuries of Mining” will look at mining from prehistoric times to modern day Wyoming through photographs, illustrations, text and a handout “Booms and Busts.” It will be on display for the month of July in the Inner Circle.

In addition to the two exhibits, members of the local Monarch Underground Miners Picnic organization will display several antique mining items and artwork from former mining community residents in the Sheridan area.

The Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library is located at 335 W. Alger St.

Sheridan Angels to host fundraiser for backpack giveaway @ Holiday Inn Convention Center

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan Angels, a local nonprofit that helps those in need in crisis situations, will host a fundraiser for the annual backpack giveaway program on Saturday beginning at 3 p.m.

The event will take place at the Holiday Inn Convention Center and will include live music, light snacks, live and silent auctions, a 50/50 drawing and a bucket raffle. Prizes include gift certificates from local businesses and more.

The Sheridan Angels backpack fundraiser provides children from three local school districts with backpacks full of supplies. The nonprofit anticipates handing out 500 backpacks this year.

The Holiday Inn Convention Center is located at 1809 Sugarland Drive.

Bill Wright art show set for Mon., Tues. @ Sheridan Inn

SHERIDAN — For two days only the works of former Sheridan artist William E. “Bill” Wright will be on display at the Sheridan Inn on July 11-12 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The art show will be the first time Wright’s work will have been shown in public for 26 years.

Sales from the art show will benefit Wright’s widow, Natalie Wright, to cover continued costs of her care at Westview Health Care Center.

Miss Indian Americas storytelling, luncheon set for Wednesday @ Sheridan Inn

SHERIDAN — A meet and greet featuring Miss Indian Americas will take place Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the Sheridan Senior Center. Then, taking place at 6 p.m., will be a story telling event with Mary Louis Defender and Birdie Real Bird.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information call Judy Slack at 751-4908. The Sheridan Senior Center is located at 211 Smith St.

On Thursday, July 14, a silent auction will begin at 10:30 a.m. and a luncheon fundraiser for former Miss Indian Americas will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The lunch will feature guest speaker Bethany Yellowtail. Tickets for the event are $30 per person and available for purchase at the WYO Theater.
