SHERIDAN — The Sheridan County Public Library System will offer its annual fall book discussion series beginning in August.
The program at Sheridan Fulmer Library, “Immigration: On Becoming an American,” will feature books about the immigrant experience.
The discussion group meets at noon in the Fulmer Library Inner Circle and the program is free and open to the public. Because the discussions will be held over the lunch hour, a light lunch will be provided for participants. Katie Curtiss will lead the sessions.
Book discussions will also be offered this fall at the Story and Tongue River branch libraries. The theme at the branch libraries will be “Nature, Animals and People: Interacting.”
Both discussions will be led by Norleen Healy.
The Story Branch Library group will meet at 6:30 p.m. and the Tongue River Branch Library group will meet at 4:30 p.m.
Books are available now for checkout at the front desk of each participating library.

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan County Republican Party and HALO for Freedom Warrior Foundation will host this year’s Reagan Day Dinner, entitled “In Honor of Our Heroes,” on Sept. 3 at the Sheridan Holiday Inn.
The Reagan Day Dinner is the annual fundraiser for the Sheridan County Republican Party. This year’s event will also help to support the efforts of HALO for Freedom Warrior Foundation.
“Each year, the Sheridan County GOP works to bring guests to the event who are insightful and engaging, and this year is no exception,” Sheridan County GOP Chairman Ryan Mulholland said in a press release. “With thanks to the HALO for Freedom Warrior Foundation, our featured speaker this year is retired U.S. Marine, John “Tig” Tiegen.
“Tig” has become well known as one of the “heroes of Benghazi” and is a co-author of “13 Hours” along with other members of the Benghazi CIA annex security team. He also consulted on the movie, “13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi.”
Among the other honored heroes that evening will be the founder of HALO for Freedom Warrior Foundation and former Golden Knights member, retired U.S. Army Sergeant 1st Class Dana Bowman; retired U.S. Army Congressional Medal of Honor recipient Don Jenkins; and U.S. Army veteran Margaret Tiegen, who is married to “Tig.” Several other warriors will join guests for the evening as well.
“This night is all about our heroes. We will honor and recognize the men and women who are serving and have served in the United States Military, law enforcement and firefighters – our heroes who sacrifice to make this country a remarkable place,” Mulholland said. “It is certain to be a memorable night for all who attend.”
Tickets for this year’s Reagan Day Dinner are limited to 500 guests, and coordinators for the event anticipate it will sell out.
Table sponsors — which includes nine tickets — are available for $1,000 apiece. Couples can buy tickets for $175 and individual tickets cost $90 apiece.
