‘Dining for a Cause’ set for Oct. 3 at Frackelton’s to benefit SHS programs @ Frackelton’s
Oct 3 @ 11:00 am – 10:00 pm

SHERIDAN — Dining for a Cause will take place at Frackelton’s on Monday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4-10 p.m.

The event will support Sheridan High School’s We the People team and the new Computer Programming Club.

Frackelton’s will donate all sales for the day.

Attendees will get the chance to meet students and advisors from the clubs.

Auditions for ‘A Bright New Boise’ scheduled for Oct. 3-4 at Carriage House @ Carriage House Theater
Oct 3 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

SHERIDAN — Auditions for “A Bright New Boise” by Samuel Hunter will take place Oct. 3-4 at 6 p.m. at the Carriage House Theater.

The play is an Obie Award-winning dark comedy, Will — a gentle and fractured man —has recently had his world forcibly turned upside-down.

Will looks to the white walls and florescent lighting of Boise’s Hobby Lobby to provide him with a new job and hopefully, a fresh start.

What starts off innocently with Will getting to know the goofy group of employees, begins to unravel as the truth about his past and his motivation for returning to Boise threatens to change all their lives.

This play will be rated R for adult language and themes.

Performance dates for the production will be Dec. 1-4 and 8-11.

The play will be directed by Dimitra Dugal.

Auditions will be for the following characters:

• Will — Late 30s, male. Trying to connect with his biological son

• Pauline — 30s-50s, female. Hobby Lobby store manager who takes her job seriously.

• Anna — Late 20s-30s, female. Chatty and a bit ditsy.

• Leroy — Early to mid-20s, male. College art student, enjoys provoking and confronting.

• Alex — 17, male. Insecure teen boy, has panic attacks.

• Two Hobby Lobby executives — 40s-50s, filmed roles

The Carriage House Theater is located at 419 Delphi Ave.

Library to host Fiber Arts Guild reception @ Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library
Oct 4 @ 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan Fiber Arts Guild will hold its annual show at the Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library Oct. 1-31 on the mezzanine.

The show features a variety of fiber art mediums including quilting, felting, embroidery, cross stitch and knitting from local fiber artists.

A public artist reception will be held Oct. 4 from 5-7 p.m.

Next ‘Jentel Presents’ planned for Oct. 4 @ Sagebrush Community Art Center
Oct 4 @ 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm

SHERIDAN — Jentel Foundation will present current artists in residence at the Sagebrush Community Art Center on Oct. 4 from 5:30-7 p.m.

The artists will give presentations about their art. The event is free and open to the public.

Presenters for October include acrylic painter Sue Danielson, of Seattle Washington; creative non-fiction writer Caitlyn Luce Christensen, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; photographer David Janesko, of Houston, Texas; animated videographer Judith Robertson, of Miami Beach, Florida; nonfiction essayist Peter Barnes, of Point Reyes Station, California; and mixed media painter Robin Green, of Seattle, Washington.

Chili cook-off, dance planned for Dayton @ Dayton Community Hall
Oct 8 @ 5:00 pm – 9:30 pm

DAYTON — The third annual chili cook-off for the Dayton School Benefit Club will take place 5-9:30 p.m. on Oct. 8 at the Dayton Community Hall. Proceeds will support the Dayton School Benefit Club.

The cost for complete dinners is $5. Dinner includes homemade chili, applesauce and homemade cinnamon rolls.

Activities for the evening will include chili tasting from 5-6 p.m. and then live music and a dance with Mick Johnson from 6:30-9:30 p.m.
