Sock Hop in Story @ Story Women's Club

STORY— The Story Women’s Club is hosting a sock hop Friday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. You must wear socks, and hopefully dress in 50’s clothing. They will also serve cookies and punch. Community Dance @ Sheridan County Fairgrounds

SHERIDAN— There will be a community dance Friday at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds. Underneath the grandstands, dance to music by Justin Beasley at 7 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. The fairgrounds are located at 1753 Victoria Street.

Never Flinch Summer Slam @ Sheridan YMCA

SHERIDAN— The Never Flinch annual Summer Slam will be on Saturday, August 2 at 8 a.m. at the Sheridan YMCA. The annual Summer Slam is a 3-on-3, co-ed grass volleyball tournament that will help raise funds for the Weston Johnson Memorial Scholarship. The entry fee is $100 per team, and you can register up until 7:30 a.m. on August 2. For more information, please call Liz Dearcorn at 763-2614.

Free guitar class @ Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library

SHERIDAN— Local musician and music therapist Michele Foster will present a free class on basic guitar skills. Folster will be at the Sheridan Fulmer Library on Saturday from 10-11:30 a.m. This class is meant for beginners interested in learning how to play the guitar. If you have a guitar, please bring it to the class. Folster will have two available for use. For more information, please call the Sheridan County Fulmer Library at 674-8585 ext. 29.

Harold Johnson Cancer Benefit @ Elks Lodge

SHERIDAN— The Elks Lodge will hold a fundraiser for Harold Johnson to help raise money for his cancer challenge. From 4-6p.m. on Saturday there will be a dinner, live music, and an auction. The cost is $10 and the lodge is located at 45 W. Brundage St. If you can’t make it, you can send donations to the Harold Johnson Fund, PO box 5082, Sheridan, WY 82801. Candidate Forum @ Sheridan College Whitney Presentation Hall

SHERIDAN— The Chamber’s Governmental Affairs Committee is hosting a Candidate Forum Tuesday and Wednesday, August 5 and 6. This is a chance for the public to ask all of the candidates, both locally and at a state level, questions. On Tuesday, candidates for U.S. and State positions will be at Sheridan College’s Whitney presentation hall, 3059 Coffeen Ave. On Wednesday, candidates for County, City and Town positions will be there. Concert in the Park @ Kendrick Park

HERIDAN — The next Concert in the Park will be held Tuesday and will feature the Sheridan Concert Band. From 7:30-9 p.m. in the Kendrick Park Bandshell, directed by Don Cherni and Areil Downing. The concert is free and open to all members of the community. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Food concessions will be available. Nothing but nets @ Kendrick Park

SHERIDAN— Help the Sheridan Jaycees raise funds to prevent malaria in Africa. On Thursday, August 7, there will be family fun at Kendrick Park starting at 6 p.m. There will be live entertainment from the Boot Hill band, dance lessons, silent auction, food vendors, and adult beverages. This is a fundraiser for Nothing but Nets, an international organization that supplies bed nets to African families. The event is free, but donations are appreciated. NSI Fall Festival @ NSI Academy

SHERIDAN— The NSI Academy presents their fall fest Friday August 8 and Saturday August 9. On Friday there will be a Pig Spit BBQ and live music by The Craft Brothers starting at 6 p.m. On Saturday at 9 a.m., there will be a 5k Color Run that you can register online for. There will also be a lunch and a duck race. Both days will feature musical performances by the student body and inflatables for the whole family. This event is free and open to the public, but donations are welcome to establish a performing arts program at NSI Academy. The NSI Academy is located at 5 Lane Ln. For more information call 674-6878.
