SHERIDAN — The next edition of “Conversations in History” will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m.

This month, Helen Laumann and the Sheridan County Historical Society will discuss flour mills in Sheridan County.

The event will be held at the Sheridan Senior Center, located at 211 Smith St.

Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce luncheon @ Sheridan Holiday Inn

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce’s monthly luncheon will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Sheridan Holiday Inn.

At the event, representatives from Cloud Peak Energy will discuss hurdles facing the energy industry. In addition, the graduates of the 2015 class of Leadership Sheridan County will be recognized.

The luncheon is open to the public. The cost is $15 per person for the lunch buffet.

Brown Bag lecture @ Downtown Sheridan Association

SHERIDAN — Lynn Gordon plans to focus on depression, anxiety and growth for the next month of Brown Bag and After Hours lectures.

The presentations set for Tuesday and Wednesday will focus on anxiety and calming your “jitters.”

The After Hours lecture is on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

There will be a repeat presentation on Wednesday at 12:10 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring their lunches Wednesday.

Both lectures will be held at the Downtown Sheridan Association, located at 150 S. Main St.

Organist Samuel Carabetta in concert @ St. Peter's Episcopal Church

SHERIDAN — St. Peter’s Episcopal Church will host renowned organist Samuel Carabetta in concert Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Carabetta is an organist and choirmaster from Saint John’s Episcopal Church in the Georgetown Parish in Washington, D.C.

Carabetta has association with the Washington Performing Arts Society, one of America’s leading nonprofit, multi-disciplinary presenting organizations. In this capacity, he coordinated the development and launching of WPAS, Music in the Country in Middleburg, Virginia, which provides additional performance opportunities for young artists who appear at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington.

The proceeds for this concert, the cost of which is a suggested donation of $15, will benefit the Foundation for Freedom and Reconciliation in the Middle East.

The FFRME was started by Canon Andrew White, the Episcopal priest of St. George in Bagdad. His foundation works to help relocate displaced Iraqi Christians resettle in Jordan and Turkey. The proceeds go to food, clothing, medical care and basic needs for the displaced refugees.

Raise Your Voice benefit concert @ The Carriage House Theater

A group of local residents have organized a benefit concert to help raise funds to aid the refugee crisis in Europe.

The “Raise Your Voice” benefit concert will feature live music from The Craft Brothers and Sarah Sample on Friday at 7 p.m. Doors will open at the Carriage House Theater at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets for the event are $15 and proceeds will be donated to the International Rescue Committee, which was started in 1933 to support World War II refugees. Not facing the worst refugee crisis since that war, 92 cents of every dollar donated will directly help IRC deliver critical and lifesaving aid, including safe drinking water, sanitation and protection from harm to vulnerable families fleeing to Europe from Syria and other conflict zones.
