‘More than Music’ to be highlighted in Buffalo this summer @ Occidental Hotel
Jun 9 @ 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm

BUFFALO — The famous Occidental Hotel Thursday night jam is celebrating 10 years of weekly musical community gatherings. A summer of musical events, commemorative items and celebrations is being planned, culminating in a huge anniversary concert.

“It is significant the Occidental Jam has lasted 10 years and is still going strong,” said Lynn Young, an organizer of the event and an original founder of the jam.

“It’s not just about music, but it’s about a viable community coming together to celebrate weekly fellowship and caring for each other,” he continued. “We have decided to name our celebration ‘More Than Music’ to recognize the jam’s significance to our community.”

A Summer of Music concert series at the Occidental is being planned to help celebrate the “More Than Music” anniversary. Shows will include Michael Martin Murphy on June 11 and bluegrass legend David Parmley and Cardinal Tradition on July 31. Several free appearances by Occidental jammers will take place throughout the summer.

The final celebration will end with a special 10th anniversary jam on Oct. 13 at the Occidental, and an Oct. 15 “More Than Music” concert at the Bomber Mountain Civic Center featuring award winning artists Laurie Lewis and Tom Rozum, local favorite Jalan Crossland, Nashville songwriters Brice Long and Kostas, along with local bands Prairie Wildfire, Too Wet to Plow, Band of Outlaws and more.

The More Than Music celebration is being sponsored by the Dan Carlat-Occidental Jam Memorial Scholarship Fund and all proceeds from the sale of commemorative items and concerts will go to the fund.

More information can be found on the Occidental Hotel website, www.occidentalwyoming.com and the Dan Carlat – Occidental Jam Memorial Scholarship Fund Facebook page.

The Occidental is located at 10 N. Main St. in Buffalo.
