‘Teach-in’ to discuss roadless rules @ Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library
Aug 22 @ 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm

SHERIDAN — The Council for the Bighorn Range has joined in the Bighorn Forest Roadless Collaborative as a wilderness/roadless representative. The group will host a “teach-in” on Monday from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library.

The discussion will include the history and effects of the Roadless Area Conservation Rule in the Bighorn National Forest and how the public can affect the recommendations on the remaining roadless areas on public lands across the Bighorn Mountains. The meeting is open to the public.

Since late 2012 when the Roadless Rule was affirmed, the Bighorn National Forest has been out of compliance with the rule. The collaborative is composed of members from industry, Wyoming State Forestry, agriculture, recreation, conservation, sportsmen and local government.

The collaborative will take comment from the public in forming its recommendations.

In the spring of 2017, the Bighorn Forest Roadless Collaborative will make recommendations to the governor for future management of these roadless areas.

The Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library is located at 335 W. Alger St. in Sheridan.
