Sheridan WYO Rodeo Street Dance @ Downtown Sheridan

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan WYO Rodeo Street Dance will return Friday and Saturday nights on historic Main Street.

Kick up your own heels after the rodeo with music, dancing and fun.

The dance commences immediately following the rodeo, at approximately 9 p.m., and lasts until 1 a.m. the following morning.

The Dakota Country Band from Rapid City, South Dakota, will be playing at the north end of the event and Harley and the V-Twins from Fort Collins, Colorado, will be playing at the south end.

Admission to the event is $5 per person.

Concert in the Park — Rick Berthod Band @ Kendrick Park

Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy a family-friendly outdoor concert in the park!

Every Tuesday evening from June 30 thru Aug. 18. Today’s concert is the Rick Berthod Band from Las Vegas, Nevada. Berthod started playing Blues Guitar seriously in his late teens influenced early by Eric Clapton, Duane Allman, Rory Gallagher, Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix, BB King and Ted Nugent. After moving to Colorado, Berthod formed his own All-Star Blues Rock band. In 1988, it was off to L.A. to form a band of the best Blues players on the West Coast. Berthod has toured festivals in Europe, Canada and the USA.

Third Friday Pasta Night and Concert @ Sheridan Senior Center

The Sheridan Senior Center will once again host its Third Friday Pasta Night and entertainment on Friday. Each third Friday of the month, from 5-7 p.m. attendees can choose their pasta and toppings, prepared fresh and made to order via a pasta bar and served with salad, garlic bread and beverages for a suggested contribution of $13 per adult and $5 for children. It’s bluegrass time, with local musicians playing some old fiddle tunes and maybe a little bit of country, too. The New Vaudevillians @ The WYO Theater

The seventh season of Vaudeville at the WYO Theater has commenced and another performance of “The New Vaudevillians” will be offered Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

Ron Kensey is back as emcee, along with Kathy McNickle and the New Vaudevillians Band.

Vaudeville is a series of “up to 5 minutes” upbeat, high energy acts including singing, dancing, magic, standup comedy, sketch comedy, animal acts, tightrope walking, acrobatics and unusual circumstances.

Each performance this summer will feature different acts and all shows are family-friendly.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for students.

Story Rock Jam @ Centennial Park, Story

The Story Rock Jam will return to Story Friday and Saturday. The event will feature live music, food and beer offerings, free camping and nearby rock climbing. Music will be presented by Damian Trujillo, the Story Jam Band, Chris Knodel, Josh and Amber Hanson, the Barefoot Band, Shot in the Foot, Paul Bowers, Gunner Hoy and Sarah Sample. The activities begin at 2 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday at Centennial Park in Story. Sod Farm Festival @ Green Carpet Sod Farm

The Sod Farm Festival will return to Sheridan on Aug. 22. The semi-annual outdoor music festival is a fundraiser for the nonprofit Project Schoolhouse.

Nonstop music will be performed from 3-8:30 p.m. by bands including Robert Cline Jr., Bonnie and Taylor Sims, the Bare Foot Band, Canary Joe, Chris Knodel, the Craft Brothers, Damian Trujillo, Doug Andrews, Ethan Chartier, the Fireants, the Nate Champion Band, the Quarterman Brothers, Sam Morton, Shot in the Foot, Tab Barker and Too Wet to Plow.

Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the gate.

Project Schoolhouse works to build schools and water systems in impoverished parts of Nicaragua.

The festival will take place at the Green Carpet Sod Farm located at 80 Owl Creek Road.

Spencer Bohren live at the WYO Theater @ WYO Theater

Musician Spencer Bohren will perform at the WYO Theater on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Born into a gospel-singing family in the wind-swept prairies and Rocky Mountains of Wyoming in 1950, Bohren began singing and playing music as a young boy. At the age of 14, inspired by the folk music he heard on the radio, he picked up a guitar and within a few weeks started performing in public. Since then, Bohren has performed all across the U.S.

Tickets for the concert cost $25 per adult, $20 for seniors or military members and $15 for students.

Organist Samuel Carabetta in concert @ St. Peter's Episcopal Church

SHERIDAN — St. Peter’s Episcopal Church will host renowned organist Samuel Carabetta in concert Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Carabetta is an organist and choirmaster from Saint John’s Episcopal Church in the Georgetown Parish in Washington, D.C.

Carabetta has association with the Washington Performing Arts Society, one of America’s leading nonprofit, multi-disciplinary presenting organizations. In this capacity, he coordinated the development and launching of WPAS, Music in the Country in Middleburg, Virginia, which provides additional performance opportunities for young artists who appear at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington.

The proceeds for this concert, the cost of which is a suggested donation of $15, will benefit the Foundation for Freedom and Reconciliation in the Middle East.

The FFRME was started by Canon Andrew White, the Episcopal priest of St. George in Bagdad. His foundation works to help relocate displaced Iraqi Christians resettle in Jordan and Turkey. The proceeds go to food, clothing, medical care and basic needs for the displaced refugees.

Raise Your Voice benefit concert @ The Carriage House Theater

A group of local residents have organized a benefit concert to help raise funds to aid the refugee crisis in Europe.

The “Raise Your Voice” benefit concert will feature live music from The Craft Brothers and Sarah Sample on Friday at 7 p.m. Doors will open at the Carriage House Theater at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets for the event are $15 and proceeds will be donated to the International Rescue Committee, which was started in 1933 to support World War II refugees. Not facing the worst refugee crisis since that war, 92 cents of every dollar donated will directly help IRC deliver critical and lifesaving aid, including safe drinking water, sanitation and protection from harm to vulnerable families fleeing to Europe from Syria and other conflict zones.

Live from The Met: Wagner’s ‘Tannhauser’ @ WYO Theater

SHERIDAN — The WYO Theater will present “Live from The Met: Wagner’s ‘Tannhauser’” on Oct. 31 at 10 a.m.

The performance is one installation of the series “The Metropolitan Opera: Live in High-Definition,” which transmits opera performances to movie theaters and other venues around the world as part of The Metropolitan Opera’s efforts to reinvigorate opera and reach out to a broader public.

The program allows audiences to experience the production at the same time as the audience in New York.

Tickets are $18 for adults and $9 for students.

SHS Jazz Band concert

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan High School Jazz Band will perform its first concert of the year Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Sue Henry Auditorium.

The concert will feature jazz standards such as “Birdland,” “Struttin’ with Some Barbecue,” “Flight of the Foo Birds” and “You Are the Sunshine of My Life.”

The concert is free and open to the public.

SHS orchestras concert @ Sheridan High School

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan High School Symphony Orchestra and Baroque Orchestra will present a combined concert on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the school’s Sue Henry Auditorium.

The Baroque Orchestra will perform the “Overture to The Messiah” by Handel and Bach’s “Brandenburg Concerto Number One” movements two and three.

The Symphony Orchestra will perform the “Prelude to Act One” from Verdi’s “La Traviata” opera, Bach’s “Fugue” in G minor and “Fantasia on Greensleeves” by Vaughan Williams.

The concert is free and open to the public.

SheridanAires winter concert @ Sheridan Senior Center

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan Senior Center’s SheridanAires will perform the group’s annual winter concert Thursday and Friday.

This year’s performances will be a tribute to Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas.”

On Thursday, the performance will begin at 1:30 p.m. and refreshments will be served. A contribution of $2 per person is suggested.

On Friday, a dinner featuring pork tenderloin will begin at 6 p.m. and will be followed by the show at 7 p.m. The dinner cost is a suggested $10 per person. RSVPs are requested for dinner by Wednesday. There is no charge for only the show Friday.

PBS Christmas concert featuring Amy, Annie Smith @ Sheridan Inn

SHERIDAN — On Thursday at 5:30 p.m., the Historic Sheridan Inn will host an old-fashioned Christmas concert.

The concert will feature the soulful music of Wyoming natives Annie and Amy Smith.

Following the concert, hot chocolate and cookies will be served.

WyomingPBS will tape the concert and broadcast it as part of the “Wyoming Chronicle” series on Dec. 18 at 8 p.m., Dec. 21 at 8 p.m. and Dec. 24 at 8:30 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public, but organizers ask those planning to attend to pick up tickets at the Inn’s front desk before the event. Seating will be limited.

SC Christmas concert @ WYO Theater

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan College music, theater and dance departments will present “A Sheridan College Christmas 2015” on Friday at 7 p.m. at the WYO Theater.

The performance will feature music from some of the newly formed musical groups at Sheridan College — Brass Ensemble, Chamber Strings and the Viol Consort. Other performers include the SC Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Collegiate Chorale, Chamber Choir and Dance Program.

Renditions of iconic holiday songs, such as “Sleigh Ride,” and “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” as well as classic Christmas favorites will highlight the evening.

The performance’s finale will include a sing-along for the entire audience featuring the songs “Deck the Halls,” “Jingle Bells,” “O Christmas Tree,” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”

Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and active military members, and $5 for students. Children 12 and under are free, but will need a ticket.

Sheridan County Youth and Children’s Chorales @ WYO Theater

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan County Youth and Children’s Chorales will present the “Sounds of the Season” concert Monday at 7 p.m. at the WYO Theater.

Sheridan County’s best third- through eighth-grade singers will perform. Special guests will include Sheridan High School’s Spectrum Show Choir and flutist Leslie Viren.

The chorales are under the direction of Stephanie Zukowski, Samantha Knesebeck and Tami Davis with JoAnn Lilley as accompanist.

Dueling Duo fundraiser for Rotary @ Sheridan County Fairgrounds

SHERIDAN — The Rotary Club will host an all-request dueling piano duo for a fundraiser set for Jan. 22 at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds exhibit hall.

The Dueling Duo will sing and play attendee requests throughout the evening. The event will also include hors d’oeuvres, drinks and door prizes.

Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show will begin at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $50 in advance or $60 at the door. Tickets are available at Sheridan County Title or by calling Sasha Johnston at 672-6478.

The event is sponsored by the Sheridan Rotary Club, and proceeds will benefit the John W. Patton Memorial Project — a pavilion to be located at Rotary Park.
