Sheridan WYO Rodeo Street Dance @ Downtown Sheridan

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan WYO Rodeo Street Dance will return Friday and Saturday nights on historic Main Street.

Kick up your own heels after the rodeo with music, dancing and fun.

The dance commences immediately following the rodeo, at approximately 9 p.m., and lasts until 1 a.m. the following morning.

The Dakota Country Band from Rapid City, South Dakota, will be playing at the north end of the event and Harley and the V-Twins from Fort Collins, Colorado, will be playing at the south end.

Admission to the event is $5 per person.

Concert in the Park — Rick Berthod Band @ Kendrick Park

Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy a family-friendly outdoor concert in the park!

Every Tuesday evening from June 30 thru Aug. 18. Today’s concert is the Rick Berthod Band from Las Vegas, Nevada. Berthod started playing Blues Guitar seriously in his late teens influenced early by Eric Clapton, Duane Allman, Rory Gallagher, Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix, BB King and Ted Nugent. After moving to Colorado, Berthod formed his own All-Star Blues Rock band. In 1988, it was off to L.A. to form a band of the best Blues players on the West Coast. Berthod has toured festivals in Europe, Canada and the USA.

Third Friday Pasta Night and Concert @ Sheridan Senior Center

The Sheridan Senior Center will once again host its Third Friday Pasta Night and entertainment on Friday. Each third Friday of the month, from 5-7 p.m. attendees can choose their pasta and toppings, prepared fresh and made to order via a pasta bar and served with salad, garlic bread and beverages for a suggested contribution of $13 per adult and $5 for children. Classes offered during the camp will include:

• jewelry making on Monday and Tuesday from noon to 2 p.m. This class will be taught by Karen St. Clair and will teach the fundamentals for creating, stringing and finishing a bracelet or necklace.

• paint your imagination on Monday and Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. This class will be taught by Sonja Caywood and will allow kids to use acrylic pains to transform random shapes into sill creatures.

• draw yourself on Wednesday and Thursday from noon to 2 p.m. This class will be taught by Alexandra Aisele and will lead kids on an exercise to draw themselves while learning the basic elements of design.

• waterfalls of color on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 p.m. This class will be taught by Tena Twite and will teach some playful painting techniques.

Tidbit Tuesday @ Sheridan County Museum

Join Tidbit the Mouse and Curator of Education Sarah Ligocki for another Tidbit Tuesday at Sheridan County Museum on Tuesday. This week’s program looks back at Sheridan in 1888. Main Street in Sheridan has changed quite a bin in 127 years.Explore the changes and similarities with this journey. All Tidbit Tuesday programs are geared toward children ages 4-10 but older children are welcome to attend. All our Tidbit programs include a story and a hands on activity. There is no cost, but reservations are requested. All children must be accompanied by an adult or responsible teenager. Call the museum at 675-1150 for reservations. The New Vaudevillians @ The WYO Theater

The seventh season of Vaudeville at the WYO Theater has commenced and another performance of “The New Vaudevillians” will be offered Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

Ron Kensey is back as emcee, along with Kathy McNickle and the New Vaudevillians Band.

Vaudeville is a series of “up to 5 minutes” upbeat, high energy acts including singing, dancing, magic, standup comedy, sketch comedy, animal acts, tightrope walking, acrobatics and unusual circumstances.

Each performance this summer will feature different acts and all shows are family-friendly.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for students.

Field Sketching for Children @ The Brinton Museum

The Brinton Museum, Sagebrush Community Art Center and Science Kids will present “Field Sketching for Children” on Thursday.

Local artist Joel Ostlind will host a field sketching workshop for children 8 to 12 years old on The Brinton Museum grounds.

Participants will meet at the Sagebrush Art Gallery located in the Historic Train Depot at 201 E. 5th Street at 8:30 a.m. and ride the Science Kids bus to The Brinton Museum.  The bus will return the participants to the Sagebrush Art Gallery at 1:30 p.m.

Art supplies will be provided; participants need to bring their own water, lunch and snack.

Cost is $35 per child.

Jr. High/High School Summer Art Camp @ Sagebrush Community Art Center
Aug 10 – Aug 13 all-day

The Sheridan Artists’ Guild, Et al will host their first ever Summer Art Camp for high school and junior high visual arts students August 10-13 at the Sagebrush Community Art Center. A variety of classes will be available for individual registration, or students can partake in all four classes for a discount. The first class will be photography with Stephen Mullins, August 10-13 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily. The class will teach students the basics of photography and photo editing using their cell phone camera or personal cameras. The fee for the course is $50. The second course is “Express Yourself with Paint!” with instructor Sonja Caywood. This will be offered August 10-11 from 2-4 p.m. The two-day class is designed to challenge and inspire students who believe they’re not artistic to remember the joy of self expression through artistic and imaginative self portraits. The course fee is $40. The third class will be “WIPEOUT Painting” with Micah Trampe on August 12 from 2-5 p.m. For $30, students will learn to combine drawing and painting techniques to create a unique piece of artwork using only their hands as painting tools. The final class will be “Street Art” with Stephen Mullins on August 13 from 2-5 p.m. In this class, students will learn about the contemporary street art scene and it’s recent significance. Students will create a stencil that will be painted onto cardboard and cut out. “Street Art” is also $30. Students may register for all four courses for only $100. Story Rock Jam @ Centennial Park, Story

The Story Rock Jam will return to Story Friday and Saturday. The event will feature live music, food and beer offerings, free camping and nearby rock climbing. Music will be presented by Damian Trujillo, the Story Jam Band, Chris Knodel, Josh and Amber Hanson, the Barefoot Band, Shot in the Foot, Paul Bowers, Gunner Hoy and Sarah Sample. The activities begin at 2 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday at Centennial Park in Story. Family Movie in the Park will return to Kendrick Park Friday.

Sheridan Wesleyan Church brings all members of the community a free surprise film at the band shell complete with pre-film music entertainment and popcorn and drinks.

Due to copyright rules, the name of the film cannot be advertised, but all movies are family friendly.

Music starts at 7:30 p.m. and the movie starts at dusk.

Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.

Sod Farm Festival @ Green Carpet Sod Farm

The Sod Farm Festival will return to Sheridan on Aug. 22. The semi-annual outdoor music festival is a fundraiser for the nonprofit Project Schoolhouse.

Nonstop music will be performed from 3-8:30 p.m. by bands including Robert Cline Jr., Bonnie and Taylor Sims, the Bare Foot Band, Canary Joe, Chris Knodel, the Craft Brothers, Damian Trujillo, Doug Andrews, Ethan Chartier, the Fireants, the Nate Champion Band, the Quarterman Brothers, Sam Morton, Shot in the Foot, Tab Barker and Too Wet to Plow.

Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the gate.

Project Schoolhouse works to build schools and water systems in impoverished parts of Nicaragua.

The festival will take place at the Green Carpet Sod Farm located at 80 Owl Creek Road.

Sheridan Elks Youth Rodeo @ Sheridan County Fairgrounds

The Sheridan Elks Youth Rodeo will return to the Sheridan County Fairgrounds Saturday. From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. all members of the community are invited to watch the events for free. There will be a toughest youth rodeo competition awarding up to $67,000 in cash and prizes in 26 events attracting up to 1,000 entries daily from across the region. Jake’s Youth Day @ Rocky Mountain Discount Sports

The Sheridan Area Gobblers will present “Jake’s Youth Day” Saturday at Rocky Mountain Discount Sports. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., all members of the community are invited to attend this free event. Information will be presented on archery, BB gun and air rifle, Joey’s Fly Fishing, Wyoming Game and Fish Department Furs/Antlers/Tracks program and more. Prizes will be given to children and lunch will be served. The Sheridan Police Department will also be giving away free guns locks. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
